I liked the art deco building.I don’t mind old buildings. It was comfortable and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great, walk into city, close to lots of cafes and shops. I would definitely stay again. I did thing it was too exciting though.

The rooms are very outdated and one of our rooms needed some work done. The bi-fold doors to one of the rooms was not in working order and off the runners which made it unsafe. There were lights not working and a large exposed rusted area where there used to be a clothes line in the shower and mould in the bathroom. We were also advised that it was our responsibility to keep the room clean, which we didn't mind but there was no working vacuum or one available for us to be able to keep the room clean. When asked if they could vacuum to try keep the rooms tidy we were told that we would be charged if the cleaners were to do it. The freezer of the room was built up of frost and there was left over food/drinks from other guests left in the fridge. The top of the curtains had a layer of dust on them and areas around the room had not been cleaned properly. Some of the cupboards had dust/dirt through out, we were not comfortable even using the kitchen items such as plates, pots, cups or kettle.

I am afraid it is not going to be a good review from me. We were in room 609, and it was very outdated, not even close to the photos online. Very disappointing. The place needs serious attention. A good clean and cosmetic improvements. As soon as you got out of the elevator, we could smell cat urine. In fact, we met the black cat on our way to our room. The manager was very friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend apartment 609 at the moment. My colleagues had mixed reviews. Some had beautiful upgraded rooms, while the majority of them felt it was not worth the money we paid.

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment and it looked nothing like their photos. I do not recommend people stay here. There were so many things wrong with the place that I lost track. The kitchen bench and various surfaces throughout the apartment were so unclean and sticky that we immediately went to the store and purchased cleaning products. We scrubbed everything we could, but there was just so much we could do in a night. We retched at seeing leftover food in the microwave from the last guests. The oven was barely better with coatings of food juices baked into its interior surfaces and trays. More leftovers were found in the fridge. The freezer was badly in need of defrosting. What else? There were copious amounts of dust on the drapery and surfaces — even on the roof! Various hairs were found throughout the apartment and in drawers. Fittings for doors and cupboards were loose, missing, or broken. For some reason the elevators and hallways smelled like thirdhand cigarette smoke, especially on the 5th floor. Given all this, we asked to check out early with a refund for the remaining nights. Was offered a different room with different problems instead. Still had mold in the shower and surfaces were greasy or sticky. I felt forced to accept on the basis that it was a very slight improvement in cleanliness and it didn't otherwise seem likely the manager would do the right thing by letting us leave without taking our money. We were so disappointed with this accommodation, the price did not reflect the reality. The photos are very deceiving. On our first day, we found a pair of dirty underwear in the wardrobe, we informed the lady at reception and she said she was very sorry that she didn’t clean the room and the lady that did didn’t do a very good job. This is not a hotel it is a low level apartment accommodation at an overpriced rate. The appartment was so dirty and out dated. This trip was part of a celebration we were so disappointed we moved to other accommodation.

Got there at 4:30, staff already gone for the weekend. Room was very old and in rough shape. Had to wait 2 days until the staff came back. But, the lady was very nice and gave us a new room. Definitely “no-frills”.

My stay at the Rothbury hotel was disappointing. I checked in after reception hours and had to provide my credit card details via their phone out the front of the property which isn't great for security in this day and age. This was even after a team member called days prior to obtain these details and were also filled out on an online check in form. The lady that greeted me at the door was pleasant however the cleanliness of the room was not great. Anything above eye level was not clean, the exhaust fans and air conditioner vents were dirty, tops of curtains and had dirt build up. There was no early checkout box, and I had call the hotel and was advised to put the keys through the closed reception grill which isn't ideal. The positives are that the position of the hotel is convenient, it was easy to get in touch with someone via phone if required and the onsite team were easy to deal with.

The Rothbury had a lovely old "Harry Potter" feel to it. The staff member was lovely and very helpful. The one big negative was the air conditioning was set at 27 degrees and it could not be changed. The aircon had to go to override mode to change the temperature down and every 2 1/2 hours it would reset back to 27 degrees. Terrible

Accommodation was pre paid, and I arrived at 6.30pm and the building was locked. An intercom was the only way to communicate. I had to give all my details over the intercom, credit card, expiry date and CSV also my drivers licence in an open and very public environment! A lot of road noise and crappy intercom speaker!! I travel a great deal for work and I wiil NOT be staying here againA

Not a good location and not impressed with the stay. Room was very dark, no one serviced my room or topped up the toiletries or tea bags etc. No fresh towels, long way to find somewhere to eat dinner. Getting picked up out the front was impossible, two Ubers went right past me. Not impressed at all staying there, wouldn't go back again. Not value for money. Far better places to stay in Brisbane that are cheaper.

Very aged furniture and lack of items. Mould to shower, paint peeling due to no working exhaust fan, no staff to be found, 1 key left for 3 guests, very disappointing for the cost of the room. Location was the big positive but otherwise would not recommend!!
