I stayed at Auberge Uchiko as a gift from my daughter for my birthday, and I had the best time relaxing in nature. The main course is ``wood-fired cuisine,'' which is grilled over a wood fire. The dishes were fragrant and colorful, and I was excited to see what would come next. At the end, I received a birthday plate with a wonderful bouquet of flowers from the garden, which I was very grateful for. The room was a villa type. From the lobby where the restaurant and hot spring bath are located, walk for about 3 minutes along the path outside to your room while enjoying nature. When you open the door, you can enjoy a sense of privacy and resort. The wood and washi paper are decorated with golden patterns, giving a soft light that brightens the entire room and makes you feel calm. There is also a wood-burning fireplace, and they will light it for you if you ask. When you step out onto the terrace, you can become one with nature, which made me want to stay there for a long time. There is a private hot spring in your room, and when you open the window, it becomes a semi-open-air bath, where you can enjoy a relaxing and luxurious time. Breakfast is also home-cooked and healthy food. The carefully rolled eggs were especially delicious. The view was spectacular, and we were able to choose local rare eggs and eat them over rice. Although I was tired from caring for her, she gave me a wonderful present. I left the inn feeling grateful for my daughter's kindness.

As it is an auberge, the food is amazing. Each dish was made with great care and was locally produced for local consumption. The bread was handmade by the chef, and they even made the chorizo, so it was very delicious. Breakfast is a Japanese breakfast with all-you-can-eat rice topped with eggs. This was also very delicious. You can compare the taste of 3 types of eggs. I particularly enjoyed eggs with pale blue shells and eggs with white yolks that were raised on rice. The rice is also freshly cooked in a clay pot. I usually prefer bread in the morning, but I had to refill it many times. The rooms are spacious and filled with the scent of cypress. The room bath was also made of cypress. The bed was hard and the pillows were very comfortable. The amenities are also great, no complaints. I carry a bamboo basket in my bag when I go out to the public bath, and it makes me feel really good. There were Bluetooth speakers, and although I couldn't use them, I could grind coffee from beans. The problem is that there is nothing nearby. It would have been nice if there was at least some preferential treatment at a nearby sports club. The staff were very attentive and made our stay very pleasant. Although the public bath was small, there was also a sauna. The sauna is quite hot. It was 94 degrees. Although the cold bath was not very clean, it was good because it was filled with water frequently. The moss on the outside path is beautiful. It feels soft and comfortable to the touch.

It was an impeccable trip, from the customer service to the food to the facilities and amenities. It will be a special memory if you stay here to celebrate your anniversary as a couple or get together with friends. The cottage was also made of cypress, and the whole room smelled nice. The indoor bath made of cypress was also great.

The guest rooms are separated, and you have to walk for 1 minute to get to the main public bath, but there is no roof so it might be difficult on rainy days. Although it is not recommended for people with disabilities, it has a very nice atmosphere. The staff are all local residents and are kind and helpful. The dishes are delicious, using plenty of ingredients such as Uchiko's vegetables. Breakfast was a hearty breakfast of miso soup with lots of ingredients, egg-cooked rice, curry, and jakoten. The hot springs in the main building can be used by non-guests as well.

With only 5 buildings in total, this is the best inn for a relaxing stay. The "Suite Villa" I stayed in this time was an independent villa-type room located about a 2-minute walk from the main building. The room has a cypress bath and a fireplace, making it a wonderful space where you can feel the luxury of doing nothing. The rooms and public bath are perfect, but the most appealing thing about this inn is the food. For dinner, you can enjoy a full course of wood-fired cuisine. The food was unique and very satisfying, something you wouldn't find at any other ryokan. Although there are no flashy activities, I think it is a famous hotel where you can enjoy a luxurious time.
