We couldn't get a suitable room in Nagoya so opted to stay in Gifu, just a 20 minute JR train ride from Nagoya. Gifu Washington Plaza was easy to find, just a few minutes walk from the station. It was a great choice, and a really nice room for my daughter and I. Everything was clean and the staff was very kind and helpful. Only problem was a fire alarm that rang off and on for about 1/2 and hour one night, which worried us. Staff came down the hall reassuring people it was a false alarm though. Also, we had some hall noise, from people talking loudly while going in and out of rooms. Nothing the hotel could have done anything about, however. The next night everything was quiet, so we had a great night's sleep. Found good eating spots right nearby, and overall enjoyed our stay.

The Gifu Washington hotel was in a great location. It is an very easy walk from the JR Rail Station to the hotel. Then, the bus station that has busses the go up to the Ukai fishing area is just across the street for the hotel, so easy to get around with just public transportation!

Location is great. Walking diatance to station JR and meitetu Gifu.
Close to hotel has McDonald a Convinience store. Lots of Japanese Style Local Izakaya.
Walking around local drinking area was so much fun!!
Bit of old hotel. But price was great! Clean and comfortable bed. Nice and quiet.

Had a good stay at Gifu the staff were helpful and it was close to lots of places. The rooms were small, uncomfortable because of the space in the rooms. Breakfast and food were great.

It is really really old, and run down. The electrical wiring in the room under the tables was a fire hazard for sure, and the night stands were from about the 60s no joke. The Guy at hotels.com said that booked it for us said it was recently renovated, but that was far from the truth. Probably won't go back.

In principle, a typical japanese hotel, that is nothing special but with everything that is needed including free internet connection. However, the walls seemed thinner even than usual as i could literally hear my neighbour's heavy breathing which made it difficult to sleep.
Locationwise, it's about 10 minutes walk from Gifu station so quite convenient

The staff here are not equipped to deal with English speaking visitors despite trying. With some gesturing, they were able to book tickets to the local cormorant fishing show for us.

Small clean room, typical for Japan. Good price. Especially close to Meitetsu train station, terminus of direct train from Central Japan airport. Staff did not speak much English but enough to check in and out without problems. We got rate with breakfast--buffet with Japanese and Western dishes.

I stayed here one night. The room was clean. The staff was courteous if not overly friendly. My only complaints would be 1) that even with all the lights on, the room felt a bit dark and 2) a lack of convenient electrical outlets. I solved the latter by unplugging a desk lamp to charge my phone, although this added to the darkness. As I was only there to fall into bed, it didn't really affect me. Overall, it this hotel served its purpose well.

Hotel location was great - close to train station, 15 minute bus ride to the convention centre and other attractions, and easy walking to local restaurants, shopping stc. The rate was excellent. The room was very small, but comfortable. The staff were very helpful.

Generally pleased with the front desk service, basic hotel facilities are conveniently available. Easy access to bus stop for Gifu castle and Ukai trip. Hotel is also a short walk to the lane that is full of eating outlets opposite the hotel. We recommend the Furaibo chicken wings, about 10-12 mins walk away. They also serve wonderful grilled sweet fish. We had a short but relaxing time in Gifu.
