I recently stayed at Travelodge Georgetown Penang, and unfortunately, my experience was not pleasant.
First, the bathroom had a persistent foul smell, like sewage, which made it quite uncomfortable to use. No amount of ventilation seemed to help, and it was an issue throughout my stay.
However, the most concerning part of my experience was the lack of security and poor response from hotel staff during an alarming situation. One night, there was a heated fight in the room next door, which was not only loud and disruptive but also dangerous. During the commotion, a 1.5-year-old child was accidentally locked inside the room while the adults were outside arguing.
Seeing the severity of the situation, I immediately called security, expecting a swift response. However, there was no immediate action taken to deescalate the fight or assist the child. In an attempt to help, I went to the reception to request a copy of the room key, but to my shock, there was nobody at the front desk at that moment. It took a frustrating amount of time before a staff member finally showed up.
Eventually, the receptionist assisted in resolving the issue, but the delay and lack of urgency were deeply disappointing. In an emergency like this, where a child is involved, quick action is crucial—yet the hotel’s response was slow and inadequate.
For a hotel that brands itself as a comfortable and reliable place to stay, this experience was far from acceptable. Security and staff responsiveness must be improved to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes necessary improvements. Thank you.
