Important Note

As announced by Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Tourism Tax is imposed starting 1 January 2023 for all hotel guests that are non-Malaysian or non-permanent Residents of Malaysia. Please expect that hotel will collect the Tourism Tax from you during check-in at the hotel. The Tourism Tax rate is 10 RM per room per night.

Swimming Pool closed temporarily from 10-4-2025 to 30-4-2025.

Deposit Policy
Deposit MYR 0.00 is required upon check-in. The accommodation accepts cash, debit or credit card.

Minimum age to check-in is 19. Minor guests must be accompanied by adults upon check-in.

All guests are obliged to below hotel policy once your booking is confirmed.

i. Upon check-in, hotel Front Desk will collect from guests MYR2.00 Local Government Fee per room per night(imposed by Penang Government starting from 1st June 2014). This fee is not included in room rates.

ii. Effective 1 September 2017, the Malaysia Government will implement Tourism Tax which will be levied for all non-Malaysia passport/ID holders and non-Malaysia PR card holders at MYR10.00 net per room night. This tax is not included in our Room Rate and it is payable by guest through the hotel upon arrival/prior to departure. The hotel will also need to take a photocopy of the guest’s passport/ID to be submitted to the authority.

ii. You may be required to present valid government-issued identification at check-in, along with credit card / cash to cover the incidentals and deposits.

iii. All special request such as additional car park, early, check-in, late check-out etc, are strongly subject to availability. You are advised to liaise with owner directly at least 24 hours before arrival for special arrangement.

iv. Hotel may charge you additional fee for each extra person after reserves room’s maximum occupancy. Any availability of extra bed or baby crib is subject to availability.

v. This hotel is a 100% smoke-free hotel. Smoking is strictly prohibited in this hotel.

vi. Durians, mangosteens and pets are strictly not allowed in this hotel.

vii. A recovery fee of MYR300.00 will be charged to the guest each time any of these policies are violated.

Airport transfer is available for MYR 50.00/person.

The room is comfy and clean, the shower and water heater were great 😍. The buffet breakfast spread is quite limited but tasty and the service at the cafe is good and friendly. I guess the hotel needs to improve on the cleanliness at the shower area and front counter reception to be more friendly and welcoming.

Long story short: 1. The application must provide as clear details as possible, if it says "3 people in room, free breakfast" what does it mean? 3 people 3 breakfast or another meaning. But I am grateful that the application offered me payment back when I complained about why I only got 1 breakfast + 1 person (extra bed). Meanwhile, the hotel only gave the solution "please complain to CS", even though after I made the booking I contacted the hotel and one of the reservation agents answered that "yes, I assure you that you have 3 breakfasts daily", but it was fine. reception and cashier insist on the system, so what's the point of a hotel reservation agent who convinces me? 2. The reception staff and cashier were not careful at checkout, where my cash deposit was said to be used to pay for an extra bed, fortunately I still insisted that they read my booking again, if I said yes, the cash just disappeared. 3. Apart from the 2 problems above, the hotel is clean, but unfortunately the rooms are not soundproof, so we could hear bangs when the doors of the rooms near us were closed, it looks like the door closers need to be adjusted again. Just cross to the Spice Convention.

This accommodation looks the same as shown in the picture, the rooms are spacious enough, comfortable and clean. All facilities function properly. Close to the airport, outside the hotel there are many restaurants and cafes, the staff are friendly and the room service staff works well. 10 days stay in Penang, this hotel we feel is very good, comfortable and clean. Definitely we come back

Olive Tree Hotel has always been my choice to stay over in Penang because it is very clean, comfortable, and the staffs are very kind and helpful. The hotel serves good meals and beverages in Selah Restaurant with good ambience and reasonable price. Nearby the hotel, there was 24 hour Sayid Bistro halal food that made my life easier whenever I wanted to chill out. Overall, I salute that this hotel committed so much with its policy to save the earth.

I had the most pleasant stay here. This hotel is close to the hospital where I did my medical check up. And located in an area that not too crowded. 3 stars hotel with ambient like 5 stars hotel. Surrounding with a good resto & cafe. Highly recommended.
