East Village Hotel

Beautiful property. Incredible kitchen. Assistance from hotel staff was readily available. Ukranian Village area and Veselka restaurant one block away. Quiet even though we were on second floor and right on 9th and 1st. Loved it!

We were very comfortable, great location

The property was exactly as described. Check-in was easy. The complimentary earplugs are appreciated! On the downside, my room’s window was loose in the frame. On the coldest day of the year, this let in a lot of cold air. The heating unit under the window was unplugged so the room was very cold upon arrival. I had to plug the heating unit in and reset it at the plug head for it to work properly. The window shade was loose, so that it unrolled more than it should have; I hung hangars from the chain to prevent this. Also, the cold water was turned off in the bathroom sink. An easy enough fix, but not one I should have had to do. I’d stay again if I was more assured the room would be in better mechanical condition.

We appreciated the location and the room was comfortable. Note it is a walk up so need to be able to carry your luggage up several flights. There are earplugs -- but this spot might not be ideal for light sleepers who don't like traffic and people noise. The entrance is on 9th street. Right below the hotel is a 24 hour shop with tasty breakfast and sandwiches. Nice to have a desk/table for 2 people to eat or work. Internet was good. Handy to have a little kitchen for leftovers or simple cooking.

First room had dirty sheets but actually loved the room otherwise. Updated bathroom, wood floors, spacious for NYC. Was given another room which faced 1st so nosier which wasn't a problem for me. Enjoyed people watching a bit. The bathroom in this room needed updating. Fridge was not on and food rotted. When I turned fridge on, I realized that the reason the hotel didn't turn it on was because it was excessively and annoyingly loud. I wish the first room was clean because I preferred the updated bathroom and working fridge. Location is excellent. Rooms are nice. Wish I wasn't awakened every morning to the staff banging the doors on the security locks every time they go in and out to clean the room. Staff I spoke with on phone was friendly and helpful. Would stay again but not in room 12 because of the tiny shower, old cabinets, and loud fridge.

It's a cozy little hotel room with all the just about everything you need. Location is great. Very close to local restaurants, subway, and grocery stores. Overall rating is a 3 because of #1, we were not advised there is a $20 fee for a 1 hour early check-in. During the pre check-in process(on-line), there was an early check-in fee, but it's for checking in before 1pm. We got there at 2pm and official check in was 3pm. We could have gone and had coffee for an hour and pay less than $20 when starbucks is just around the block. #2 no hair dryer as per listing, so we had to go to bed with wet hair. #3 hotel charges you other fees above and beyond what is listed on Travelocity booking. Seems like a communication between hotel and travelocity, but instead of making it right, they make excuses on why it was more than actual booking. Lots of emails going back and forth, and they finally refunded me the early check-in fee, but not the fees that were not listed on Travelocity, aka, hidden fees.

Wonderful stay in the East Village with plenty of food and small businesses around, a short walk to subway stations, very easy check-in experience. Love the convenience of the kitchenette. Being on the 4th floor did not feel like a hassle, although of course it’s something to consider depending on luggage and accessibility limitations. Street noise can be heard, but the area is relatively quiet in comparison to other busier neighborhoods in Manhattan.

Place was very simple but had everything that you need for a stay in NYC. The lock on the door was a bit of an issue getting in - you just had to do it a couple of times then it worked. Only reason I gave it 4 stars.

The manager called let us know about the rooming situation and gave us another room in a sister hotel Chelsea Pines Inn. Gave us a bunch of complimentary services. Very nice staff and extremely friendly. Only downside was we had a lot of luggages and were given the room on the 5th floor.

Overall a good option for the price. Great location. The address is deceiving because the entrance is not on First Ave., it's on 9th Street. It is a walk up and we stayed on the third floor which wasn't too bad even with my bad knees but I would have had a difficult time if we were on a higher floor. Our room was a corner unit and was cold, it was about 15° outside that night, and the heater was wonky. Communication with management was great. I had to call to get a cot removed from the room and they picked up right away and someone came within a couple of minutes to take it away. Only one real negative, the towels! The towels were clean but they were incredibly rough. We didn't use the kitchen facilities at all but it's a nice to have if you want to save on eating out. Also, you'd have to be creative about a sit down meal as there is no dining table but there are two chairs and a desk - or just eat in bed.

The overall experience at the hotel was good. The check-in process was easy and smooth, and the facilities were nice. However, I was disappointed by the rigid policy on early check-in. We were not allowed to enter the hotel before 3 PM, even though I was willing to pay the additional charges. Furthermore, there was also a fee for storing our bags, which felt unnecessary. It would be great if the hotel could be more flexible with early arrivals. Other than that, everything was fine.

If you want to stay like a local in one of the best neighborhoods in NYC, this is your spot.

Location was great but everything else was subpar. The heater did not work, there was little hot water and the comforter did NOT come with a sheet cover (very gross...). Would not stay here again and do not recommend

It’s a small studio apartment. The positives were that it was clean, quiet, and enough room for 2 people for a weekend. The negatives were the communication from the staff who are not present on site. It took an extra 20 mins to email a door code and there was not correspondence prior to arriving. Other than that it was fine if you are looking to stay in the East Village. Just be aware that the East village is not near any major attractions or transit stations.

Extremely clean. The location and price I needed. Market and restaurants near. Definitely could hear street noise. Earplugs and my travel fan helped.

Great area with lots to do.

Easy check in, with all instructions clearly provided via email. I'm an NYC native who no longer lives in the city. This was an ideal spot to crash when I needed to stay in the area for a night. Yes, it's loud. That's the East Village, it's expected. Room was clean and very cute. Check in and out was easy.
