The hotel is in an excellent location, especially for those interested in the university area. Parking issues should be taken into account, the hotel only has five parking spaces on a free basis. The food at the hotel is excellent, except for the lack of vegetables at breakfast, the hotel staff is courteous and exceptionally helpful. We must mention one of the waiters, Joel, who served us at dinner, which was particularly delicious and his service was extraordinary, kind, humorous and helpful. In conclusion, it is highly recommended!

If you have to be sick in Coimbra, I hope you’re staying at this lovely hotel. My husband fell ill during our brief stay and the staff here went above and beyond to help and take care of us. They thought of everything from offering a late check out, to arranging a “house call” from a doctor, to ensuring we had enough to eat and drink. I hope to return some day to more fully appreciate the town but will always have fond memories of the hospitality shown to us at Sapientia Hotel..

Very tastefully done up hotel. The rooms each named are named and dedicated to Portuguese writers and are spacious with a kitchenette attached for added convenience. The staff are/were excellent. Super friendly. Special mention to Joel, always witty with a joke up his sleeve

A lovely hotel in historic Coimbra. Right next to the old university. Recently updated, very clean and modern. The on-site restaurant is fantastic. Staff is the pinnacle of friendliness and helpfulness. Joel, the restaurant manager, is a treasure. The hotel has parking spaces on the street.

A great hotel steps away from the University and the Library. Sapientia staff were helpful and very friendly. The breakfast buffet was really good. Our room was nice and modern with an exceptional view of Coimbra. The patio was fantastic (complete with a happy little turtle)! The rooftop lookout was amazing.
