Absolutely fabulous boutique hotel. I’m a former hotelier and the details matter to me. We spent two nights here in a suite. The service was omnipresent, impeccable from the moment we arrived. The reception staff handled all our plans for the weekend - dinner reservations, drivers, a tour guide, airport transfer. Easy to communicate with staff via WhatsApp while in house. The design of the hotel is a very smart modern adaptation of an old building. The exterior architecture remains, while the interiors have been redesigned with clean modern finishes using traditional materials. Modern lighting with simple controls. Well appointed room amenities including a proper espresso machine, fridge, etc. Modern bathrooms have traditional fixtures that again are easy to use. Too many new hotels have complex contemporary fixtures that require a doctorate degree to use - this is not one! The linens and mattress as expected in a luxury hotel. Great bath products (the scent of the shampoo is memorably floral and sweet.) As with most small properties there is not much common space - a small library downstairs, a fabulous pool on the rooftop, and the extremely elegant dining room. This met our expectations. Side note the food also gets five stars - it’s a bit more contemporary cuisine, and very limited menu, so you won’t find a hamburger but we had some truly memorable dishes (the kohlrabi & carrot vegetarian dish! The grilled chicken on the room service menu!). After two weeks at other boutique and luxury properties in Spain and Lisbon, this was our favorite room and overall service experience. I very much recommend this hotel.
