Originally constructed in 1931 as the Tainan Police Department, the structure was designed by Tainan Prefecture technician Shojiro Maezawa in the Art Deco style with eclectic influences. The main structure features reinforced concrete, while the wings are composed of red brick concrete. Its exterior is adorned with thirteen-groove bricks, giving the building a sophisticated and elegant appearance. In 1998, it was designated as a Tainan City Historic Monument and remains one of Taiwan's best-preserved former police department buildings.
