It was nice to have a choice of pillows, I usually hate the hotel pillows.

Really enjoyed all the little extras like the robe, the biscuits, the take away cups the selection of teas…just going that little extra mile but most of all enjoyed having fresh milk in the room!

Lovely hotel and Spa, very clean and welcoming with a lovely restaurant. Only reason why it scored low on facilities was because of the planned refurbishment of the pool area, which we knew about after booking but didn’t put us off. Would definitely stay again and would look forward to seeing the refurbished pool area next time over a lovely place to stay

We stayed over because we were celebrating a friends birthday with a Christmas theme. Disappointed that the pool etc was closed due to refurbishment which was another reason that we decided to stay.

The pool and hot tub were out of use when I specifically request a hot tub!

Have stayed here before, but unfortunately found the sink not properly cleaned when first entering the room and normally the rooms are cleaned each day and staying for two days, found nothing was cleaned (when comparing to previous stays) besides a used towel removed. Breakfast was fantastic as always.

Unimpressed

Overall quite a disappointment. Same price paid via Expedia as hotel charges when booking direct, except spa/gym facilities not included in rate. It's hidden in the small print so you don't realise until they email you to ask you to pay an additional £15 per person. Feels a bit like a rip off. The room is quite dated, not well designed (no plug sockets next to the bed, huge empty space on one side of the room with all the other furniture pushed to the other side, poor lighting, and next to zero soundproofing. You can hear everything in the corridor and the adjacent rooms, including toilet noises. Can't turn off the fan in the bathroom so a constant hum. Not great for a light sleeper.) Everything just feels a bit cheap. Like every cost has been kept down - from the cheap plastic not soft close toilet seat to the single (overcooked) egg with a full English breakfast. Don't even think you could enjoy a nightcap - the bar closes at 11pm. Breakfast was alright but overcooked and, like everything else here, felt stingey. Portions kept to a minimum. In fairness the staff were great in accommodating my gluten allergy but the 6 or 7 emails and phone calls asking us to pre-book a time started to become a bit like harassment. Noted: when we got to the breakfast room it was half empty. Honestly? You'd be better off in a Premier Inn.

Good points: most staff we encountered were brilliant. Hotel generally was clean and tidy. Rooms were very much so. Fresh milk machine in the corridors rather than tiny long-life cartons. Not so good points: Excellent menu is really let down by the execution. Breakfast was stopped at 0915 which meant one of us missed it altogether despite having paid for it. The Spa area staff were extremely unattentive and waved me through with no towel or locker fob, meaning I had to head back to reception in my swimwear to get a fob (no towel). Both external Jacuzzi's were non-operational. Fresh milk machine was empty by early evening and not refilled prior to us leaving mid-morning the following day. Overall it was 'ok'. Not bad per se, but let down by some aspects that, given its location by the motorway, leave you with the impression it's sort of a slightly posh Premiere Inn with lofty aspirations. None of these things would be that bad if it wasn't for the premium price to stay there, the premium price for breakfast, and the very premium price for restaurant food given the result.

Last minute booking. Great hotel, staff very friendly and professional. We had meal at main restaurant, food and service was exceptional. Next time we are in area we would certainly stay at holiday again.

The in-house food order people where very rude
