About 25 kilometers away from Kota Kinabalu, the capital state of Sabah, Penampang-Papar old road is where the Wildlife Park Lok Kawi is developed by the Sabah Wildlife Department. The existence of this park has undisputedly boosted Sabah’s tourism industry. It was officially opened on the 17th of February 2007.

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park was made up of two parts named the zoological and the botanical. Both parts make this park to be 280 acres in size. This huge park aims mainly to create family-oriented park where some considerations are also taken to children’s safety and suitability when enjoying and visiting this park. When visiting the zoo, the tourists or visitors can visit variety of animals. Among the popular animals are the Borneo Pygmy elephants, Sumatran rhinoceros, Orang Utan, Proboscis monkey, Malayan tiger and some species of deer. Your children and families will surely enjoy watching their unique characteristics.

Whereas, the botanical part provides the visitors some activities while witnessing along the breath- taking green nature. One of them is jungle trekking. It is approximately 1.4 kilometers long of the paved trail where the visitors will surely get sweat. As the visitors trek along the jungle, they will get to the most lively section which is the aviary section. They will get to hear crowds of sounds of the mynahs who excited by the visitors coming to see them. Other than mynahs, there are also hornbill, pigeons, parrots, eagles, egrets and a lot more. There is also section made 100% safe for the children to enjoy their visit. In this section, they will get to interact with pygmy elephants, ponies and goats. Elephant rides operates at early 10.30 am to 11.30am and from 3.30pm to 4.30 pm.

Kota Kinabalu Floating Mosque

Located at Pasir Road of Likas Bay, this floating mosque is also known as City Mosque which the construction costs for RM34 million. It is the biggest mosque built in the city. The beautiful design is inspired from the Nabawi Mosque in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. This mosque has a prayer hall which houses three madrasahs and able to accommodate approximately 9, 000 to 12, 000 worshippers at a time. This mosque is not only a place for the muslims to pray, but it also becomes one of the attraction centres for the local and foreign tourists. It is opened daily except on Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with free admission. The mosque is surrounded by a man made lagoon that enhances the dramatic look of the mosque and it is said to be its most beautiful especially on the full moon night.
