The Village House is located just 25 minutes’ drive from the centre of Kuching, Sarawak, in a village called Santubong. The village is located near Damai Beach so tourists can opt to relax there. It is a quiet and peaceful accommodation situated near the borders of the Bako National Park. With its remote and natural surroundings, you cannot help but fall in love with nature even more. Its architecture made from wood provides your stay with a sense of traditional living of the locals as well as peace and tranquillity. The area, Santubong, is a great place for outing and has become one of Kuching’s famous attraction places. The place is also popular for its seafood and sea products that can be found made especially by the locals there. Not to forget, the area itself got its name from a mythical princess living in Mount Santubong, so you can expect several folklores to sprout from this tranquil seaside village.
Guests will be offered to be picked up from the airport itself by the hotel’s shuttle bus or taxi. To opt for this, guests will be required to provide a surcharge for this service, and it is best that you book for this in advance.
Another option guests can take is to rent a car at the airport itself. There are several car rental services available at the airport for you to choose at your best price.
There are three types of rooms to choose from, depending on the number of guests as well as the comfort that they prefer.
Starting from the price of RM 110.09 inclusive of tax, guests can opt for this room if they plan for a budget trip. This room is a dorm type of room with six bunk beds. It is an attractive deal for backpackers simply wanting a room to sleep in. Though, doubt not, comfort and cleanliness are still the hotel’s priority.
Next at the price of RM 298.93 per night is the Village Double room meant for two guests. The room is equipped with one queen sized bed made from solid timber wood, an air conditioning water heater, and of course, a free WiFi. This is the standard room that most would opt for if they wish to keep their privacy as well as comfort to themselves.
Next is the luxurious Rajah suite best fit for your honeymoon trip. The room is equipped with a king sized bed, water heater, air condition and access to the WiFi. The starting price per night is RM 561.17 where the guests are given a luxuriously decorated room centred on Sarawakian wooden architecture. There are a few in-room facilities that can be used by the guests; hair-dryer, a safe and a desk. The room provides a view of the hotel’s swimming pool as well as the lush green scenery of the Bako National Park.
The hotel provides its guests with a luxurious restaurant in which they can enjoy both local and international cuisines. Not to mention, guests can get access to the hotel’s bar that is provided to the guests’ comfort.
The hotel provides its guests with a library to be used during free time and children can gain access to the board games available in the library itself. There is also a swimming pool dotted with reclining chairs which is perfect for relaxing when you are not out enjoying outdoor activities. Nearby are the hotel’s garden and a terrace overlooking the lush greeneries.
The hotel’s front desk is also available 24 hours so guests can ask for information at any time. A laundry service is also available to be used, so you do not have to worry about saving up on your luggage. There is also bicycle rental and storage service offered for visitors to use if they feel like touring the nearby village. Babysitting service (with a surcharge) is also offered to guests with a family.
For those who do not have the stamina to hike up this challenging mountain but still want to enjoy flora and fauna of nature, you can opt to take the easier trail and hike around the first hiking trail. This trail will take you 2 hours to complete and will lead you to one of the waterfalls that require you to pass a hanging bridge. Once you have arrived at the waterfall, it is best to take a refreshing dip in its cool waters in which they are mostly waist-deep.
