On arrival, the location of this hotel is in a lovely quiet rural area and the grounds of the property are lovely! We were impressed with the upkeep of the property and parking was good for our car.
Upon check in we were offered a drink and time to relax before being shown around the property and our bags taken to our room.
Room: we were allocated in a room with a small garden, on arrival this was lovely and nice to have the garden area, however for the price of this hotel the upkeep of the room left a lot to be desired such as the bathroom flooring all lifted, tiling cracked and leaking around the shower, décor was quite shabby. The beds were ok but was 2 beds pushed together which for this price is not expected. The room was located next to where all the workmen come and go during the day and the owners seem to reside near there so during the day you can sit outside but expect continuous vans and lots of noise in this area. There is also a generator located outside this room which is very noisy.
There is a lot of single use plastic throughout the hotel including toiletries within the room and water bottles provided at check out.
Hotel: when we arrived the pool was all closed up - no loungers/ towels out but the receptionist advised it was open. As the sun came out in the afternoon we tried to use the pool but no one came to provide towels etc. The following day when the weather was worse, but "influencers" were present, all the loungers and towels were placed out!
Food: The breakfast is good, a wide choice and options to order. Dinner the food was very good and a nice choice within the HB menu. The service was excellent from all staff however when a group arrives (super cars) or when the "influencers" came in, the service went down hill and all focus went on them. This was a shame as the dining was one of the highlights of this hotel.
Service: In general from all staff the service was very good, friendly and attentive. However the behaviour of the manager at this property was just rude - we followed him into the main building and had a door pushed in our face, walked past us with no acknowledgement of being there when we were looking for someone to ask a question to, around our room garden no respect for some quiet space and openly having loud conversations, dining room arrived like royalty and expected the staff to run around and seemingly forget about other guests in the restaurant at the time. It is a real shame that he has published himself across social media, if we did not know who he was, it would have been better if that is going to be his attitude towards hotel guests!
It was also a real shame when the "influencers" were present, all eyes seemed to be on them and for a hotel of this level should provide that level of service to all guests!
Overall for the value of this property we would not return and we expected a lot more from this property, especially with the Relais & Châteaux brand.
