Holiday Inn CHARLESTON-RIVERVIEW, an IHG Hotel

Property was fine. Nothing wrong with hotel other than Expedias cancelation policy

the rooms need to be updated they are old , especially the ac units, other than that staff was outstanding

Needed place to sleep while family member in VA hospital.

Convenient location and easy to park but the breakfast was bad and it wasn’t very clean overall

Nice hotel but it’s starting to show its age. Traffic noise was constant but this place is located in between the roads. View was beautiful! The restaurant was nice and convenient and also had the best view.

Location is very awkward - if you don't have personal access to a vehicle it is hard to get to and from downtown Charleston, even with hotel shuttle. On that note, the hotel shuttle does not go to the airport. Your room might have a lovely view of the river...or the scenic Waffle House. Seems like the room might have suffered some damage in the recent hurricanes, as there were water stains on the ceiling and carpet. Staff were all fantastic and very helpful.

Property and staff were great beyond words..From the front desk to the restaurant everthing was wonderful..Will definitely stay here again...

Very clean and the view from the rooftop is incredible

Pretty outdated property. Doors were hard to open into the room, and into the bathroom. You can just tell the property is old and outdated. Halls smelled like cigarettes. But, the view was nice and the staff was excellent. About a 2 min drive to Charleston.

I liked the fact that they had a free shuttle.

Outdated building on great property. Shuttle is falling apart and was late to pick us up, and unreliable.

Great hotel! Clean and service people are very friendly. They do not do room cleaning every day. Free shuttle to the city center is a gem. The rooms do not have balconies (locked door, no access to the balcony).

The property used to be a place I loved. It is now filthy and run down. I had to be moved out of my room three times because of horrible conditions. Nice employees but the building is past it's time.

Pictures show a better place, compared to what it is. Not too clean.

the free transportation to Charleston downtown

This is a convenient location to downtown and right next door to a good quality Waffle House. The hotel itself is fairly nice and clean overall but could use some updates. The parking lot lighting is poor as only one or two light poles were functioning. It would be nice if they could repair the rest to ensure the lot is well lit for safety and vehicle security. We went in the offseason so the pool was closed so unable to comment on that amenity. Overall I would return.

At checkin at 4PM there was only one person at the front desk and she was on the phone. After she got off the phone (5 minutes) and started my process 2 other people appeared behind the desk. She put me in a handicapped room which I did not request. This often happens when I book the cheapest room. The room could not be made to get dark at night. The door was hung poorly with an inch gap at the top that allowed hallway light to stream in. There was also a strange sound in the room like water thru pipes that varied pitch and volume through the night. I turned off the water to the toilet but that had no affect. The next day I asked if I could change rooms. The same girl at the desk worked on changing me to another room immediately and gave me keys to a king room. While helping me a line to check out formed. At this time I appreciated her direct and professional attention. They need a second person on the desk. The king room was nice except the Keurig machine would not close and could not make coffee. I told the front desk and saw her make a note. It was never fixed for the next 2 nights. Both rooms were clean with good bedding and towels and clean mini fridges. The property was well kept. My previous stays here never had this much drama. (There might have been a broken ice machine once or twice.) I guess the age of the property is starting to show.
