Good clean rooms, staff generally very helpful although some a bit grumpy at breakfast. A smile anytime goes a long way. Happy to book here again as so convenient for all facilities but you must take good walking shoes!

there was hair in the shower when i checked in, water glasses and mugs were not replenished daily, had to wait over 1 hour for a fork to be delivered to my room, room was nice though

Overall great hotel. Stayed here a few times. Midtown with central access to subway. Hotel is relatively new and I saw it being built when I lived nearby. Room and everything still look brand new. My only issue is the elevator. Kind takes a long time certain times of the day when everyone is checking out or going to breakfast. Also, I had to call several times over 6 hours to have some things brought to my room. And the room service bill has the problem most hotels do. There was a delivery charge and service charge. Then an open line for tip. Is service charge same as tip?

The rooms have a great layout and are spacious relative to other NYC hotels. The location can’t be beat as it’s convenient to everything but not as overwhelming as the other more touristy areas. There isn’t a good place to hang at the hotel later at night, though, which I see as a negative.

The lobby is the worst I ever seen. Unfurnished and unheated. Freezing cold.
The room is small. When you enter, you stand in the bathroom! Very poor room service: WC not cleaned, floor dirty, replace towels missing, Kleenex not refilled, empty water bottles not replaced, waste baskets not emptied. One day the room was not done at all.
Breakfast is a disaster. Waiting time for a table 20-30 minutes due to lack of staff. Then long wait for a server. Toast comes without butter and jam; has to order extra. Worst eggs benedict ever. Orange juice out. Milk for the coffee in a paper mug. Spoons out.
The hotel has a nice views though. As much as you can see through the dirty windows.

I’m so happy we picked the Virgin Hotels. This hotel was by far the best one I’ve stayed at. They were amazingly helpful and had room service constantly. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Definitely a luxury hotel.
