Manileños are lucky that despite living in the concrete jungle, a quick beach getaway is less than a couple of hours away. If you can't take a leave or take a flight, then why not head over to one of these Batangas beaches over the weekend?

1. Nasugbu Beach

Nasugbu Beach Batangas

This humble town in Batangas is ideal for travelers who are into camping and who enjoy exploring coves with crystal clear water, soft off-white sand, and breathtaking cliffs. As an added bonus, you can take a boat to nearby Fortune Island which is home to a grand Grecian acropolis standing atop the island's limestone cliff.

How to Get There: There are Nasugbu-bound buses from the bus stations in Pasay and Buendia. Travel time is about three hours. Ask to be dropped off at the town proper, where you can hail a trike that will take you to your chosen beach resort.

2. Laiya Beach

Laiya San Juan Beach Batangas

With a long shoreline and soft sand, Laiya houses a number of beach resorts. Travelers can opt to either kick back and relax or to partake in fun water activities such as jet skiing, or riding the flying fish and banana boat. Laiya is also close to Mt. Daguldol, where you and your loved ones can bond over a session of hiking and biking.

How to Get There: From Manila, board a bus with a Lipa City signboard. Ask to be dropped off at the terminal, then take a jeepney or van ride to San Juan, Batangas. Tell the driver to take you to the municipal hall. From there, hire a tricycle going to your preferred beach resort.

3. Matabungkay Beach
