Does Taiwan Need a Visa from the Philippines?

Under the current policy, Filipino citizens do not need a visa to enter Taiwan for short stays of up to 14 days. However, it is crucial to meet the following requirements:

Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry. Visa-exempt entry applies to those holding formal passports (ordinary, official/service, and diplomatic). Holders of emergency, temporary, or other informal passports are generally ineligible, except for those holding a Brunei Certificate of Identity. If you have an emergency or temporary passport (except those from the USA), you must apply for a visa at an ROC overseas mission or a landing visa upon arrival.

Confirmed Return or Onward Ticket: You must have a confirmed return air/sea ticket or an air/sea ticket and a visa for the next destination, along with a confirmed seat reservation for the departure flight.

Eligibility Determination: You must not be determined by immigration officers at ports of entry in Taiwan to be otherwise ineligible.

Proof of Accommodation and Funds: Holders of passports from Brunei, the Philippines, and Thailand must have proof of accommodation (hotel booking), the host/sponsor's contact information, and sufficient travel funds.

Service Personnel Exception: Vessel/aircraft crew members or service personnel from Brunei, the Philippines, and Thailand intending to board to report for duty are ineligible for visa-free entry.

Duration of Stay

The duration of stay starts from the day after arrival and is not extendable. Foreign visitors must depart by the end of the said duration.

Visa-exempt entry cannot be converted to a visa-based stay unless you face circumstances such as severe acute illness, natural disaster, or other force majeure reasons that prevent you from leaving Taiwan.

For stays longer than 14 days, or purposes other than tourism or business (such as work or study), a visa will be required. The application process for these visas involves submitting relevant documentation and possibly attending an interview at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Manila.
