This is a family owned and run property that combines several apartment-style hotel rooms in the same building as their restaurant. When arriving I was confused looking for the hotel entrance because I only saw the restaurant entrance. Some local people entering the restaurant told us to use the restaurant entrance and they were correct. We were quickly greeted by the owner Chef Van Herck while his daughter helped with our bags (they have an elevator, which is not always the case for these small properties in older buildings). We were in room 3 on the third floor. It was long front to back with the bedroom in the back and living room (and a small but nicely equipped kitchen) in the front. The shower and toilet are in separate rooms, which is nice. The shower was great and the amenities (towels, soap, shampoo, coffee maker and coffee) were first rate. The bed was very comfortable, and the linens were high quality. One small negative is that the only air conditioning head is in the bedroom, so if you keep the bedroom door closed the air conditioning doesn’t cool the front room. That said, we were there during a few days of high temperatures and with the fan in the room everything was fine. We ate dinner one night in the restaurant, which is reviewed separately. If I visit Antwerp again I would stay here for sure.

This is a stunning hotel on a quiet street, yet close to everything in Amsterdam. We were there with our three year old and everyone there was so kind and accommodating! The room/apartment was beautiful and came with everything one would need, not to mention a lovely night's rest. The bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with top quality utensils! The breakfast was beyond delicious and even came with champagne. My only regret is that we didn't eat dinner there because we had our young daughter with us. However, we will definitely go back for a date night.

This hotel was by far our best experience on our travels this trip (and maybe ever?). They had closed for a week post holidays but because we had already booked they stayed open for us and made sure we still had the best possible experience. The hotel is made up of four suites, and they are very sizable and well equipped! Not one thing I could fault them for. They were excellent hosts, and even still honored our dinner reservation in the restaurant and breakfast reservation in the bistro. The restaurant is truly an experience, you can’t miss it! The cellar below the house the hotel is located in is stunning and a must see. The food the chef made for us was absolutely amazing, and we tried some things we had never tried before! Definitely be open to whatever they recommend, it will be worth it. They are very very friendly and we truly enjoyed getting to speak with them and learn about the history of their restaurant and home. The breakfast they supplied for us was an amazing spread, I didn’t even know where to be begin and feel bad I couldn’t try it all! Definitely book your stay here, and definitely eat at the restaurant and have some wine in the cellar!

I loved my stay at the Colvenier thanks to Chef Patrick (Van Herck), Marta and all the staff who are committed to providing you with a very unique and fun experience of Antwepen. Everything is a surprise and you never know what you are going to get. Our dinner started by going downstairs in an amazing maze of cellars where Patrick serves the apéritif and elaborates the menu with you. The dinner in the beautiful receiving rooms feels like you are in a bourgeois Belgian home. And the fare is in the same veing: classic, rich and warm. I loved our suite and again felt as it was a home away from home. Clean, spacious with great beds and amenities. Un real tour de force by a small dedicated staff whom I thank profusely for making our stay so special.
