Upon arrival, both elevators and lobby had a strong smell of urine. In the room it was impossible to rest, as kids were running around and screaming in corridors almost all the time, except for late night. The hotel had many wandering people, staying/sitting in common areas, kids roaming around screaming their lungs out and completely uncontrolled, which is very odd for a hotel. Sound insulation is non-existent - you can hear what is happening in the next room. Only after looking at pin board near elevator with free dental evaluation, and other services, too high hotel pricing of Ottawa hotels for this low season made me realize that likely this hotel is used by Canada government to house refugees. Nothing against refugees, but the hotel should do a basic job in enforcing what we expect from hotels in this country. If you do not want to smell urine every time you come up and down the elevator, and not able to fall asleep at night - look for a different hotel, preferably in Gatineau, where the above problem didn't exist the last few times I stayed.

Not clean enough

Decent hotel. While the staff were quite pleasant, there were a couple of service issues. Mainly that we did not receive housekeeping. (Or fresh towels or Kleenex, TP etc until we called or found housekeeping) Also we paid when we arrived and the addition amount held on deposit was $200 instead of the $50 quoted on the reservation. We did get it back right away upon checking out. These things added to the low service rating.

The floor I was on was noisy with kids in the hallway. Found out after that it was a shelter hotel. Floors 3 and 5 designated, they gave me room on 5 These people have a lot of stress in their lives I understand that, the hotel putting work people on the same floor with basically long term tenants (it’s understandable the kids are stir crazy) is unacceptable The bathroom tub had mold around it No working TV, I’ll not be staying there again

No hot water, terrible front desk clerk, mold in the bathroom. Overall terrible.

We arrived very late after many delays at the airport and the receptionist offered we could stay a bit longer than checkout time at no extra cost

I believe this hotel has some floors designated for refugees, which is fine but should be apparent about this. I accidentally got off on wrong floor and noticed it quite different from a typical hotel. Lots of kids running around, up & down elevators (boy bumped into with bike pedal & scratched my leg) and families hanging out in the parking lot. Otherwise, the floor & room I stayed in was clean.

We started in RM.124. The hotel itself was okay, but appears it is also being used as a refugee shelter. The staff was excellent and very sociable. The bed was fine. The heater worked well. Our cat stayed with us. She did well except she didn't like the barking dog down the hall. The floor seal for the walk-in shower did not work, and we flooded the bathroom. Used all the towels to clean it up. The toilet paper dispenser was falling off the wall, the bathroom sink faucet was loose, the sink was coming away from the wall, the TV was very slow in loadiing up content. These issues were reported to the Front Desk when we checked out.

Just one thing they have to improve is their breakfast is so boring not that much options.

Great stay

This hotel is quite good at being average. The rooms are clean as is the main areas. Beds are comfortable and rooms are well maintained. The areas of concern are the noise in the hallways, the smells (perhaps from cooking) and overall this is an older hotel that fits in the budget friendly category.
