Handy little hostel in the middle of Newcastle. Stayed several times before. Can't grumble for the price. Plenty free Brew Kit available in the kitchen. Rooms basic (A Double & Single bunk bed) but clean, what else do you need for an overnighter? I'll be back again...Hopefully I remember to bring a towel this time :-)

Slight delay to get in when it was late (22:50): several buzz a few mins apart and nobody was answering the phone. Luckily someone came in.
Otherwise really good stay: friendly staff, bedroom spacious, bed comfortable and great facilities.

The first thing that hit me when I walked into the dorm, was the smell of feet. The room was noisy at night, with fellow residents coming in and out and there was plenty of noise from the street bellow, so one would find resting difficult if a light sleeper. My bed was comfortable, but being on the lower bunk had its disadvantages and I woke whenever the occupant climbed up and down the ladder. Apart from that, I felt like I was in a warm and safe space. My fellow room bunkers were all friendly and the hostel staff were also friendly, welcoming and courteous.

I usually stay in a different hostel but they had no availability this time. I was happy to find an alternative at a reasonable price but it was rather lacking in comfort. I was warned not to expect the wifi to reach my room - it did, but I had to go down to the lounge to find the password - and the bathroom was at the other end of the corridor. I was fine because I just needed somewhere to stay the night, but just be aware it's a bit on the spartan side

Stayed here over Great North Run weekend (Saturday) and would recommend - super central location, great atmosphere in the kitchen area, hot showers and rooms are spacious for a hostel. The others in my room were also running, so early nights all round! There is some noise from the street but to be expected on a Saturday night on Grainger Street.

Good hostel. Wouldn't hesitate to book again! Everything up to standard. 24 hour reception is great. Easy to find, I managed to find free parking from 4pm-10am but this required research, checking restrictions and a moderate walk.
Minor nitpicks: No wifi in bedrooms, shower pressure serviceable but on the lower side, (but warm and spacious) Don't let these dissuade you, they are the only improvements I could think of.

I live 40 miles north of Newcastle, to reduce commuting I stayed at Albatross which was amazing. Best hostel in the toon by far. Nice murals painted on the walls, the inspiring messages made me smile, lovely communal areas, big kitchen & eating/TV room. Very cosy and relaxing. I will definitely stay here more often.

My 1st ever time in a hostel, so I was a bit apprehensive at first, but it really was an enjoyable stay. Staff were fab, whole place was immaculate. Only downside was the bathroom being a short walk away, but this obviously is the reason it’s a hostel and not a hotel :) - I would defo stay again. We were in an 8 bed room & our stay was for my ‘40th Birthday Bender’ :) - Our ages were 18 - 45 xxx
