Best Western Shaftesbury The Royal Chase Hotel

Was given a twin room despite booking a double room. I wouldn't normally be bothered but this was the second time this week this happened in different hotels. The single bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were awful. The room was spacious and warm but dated and there were signs of dust on the lamps etc so cleaning wasn't very good. Bathroom looked like it had recently been updated and was fine although when you stepped in the shower it felt like you might go through the tray! Food was good in the restarant though. Limited choice but it was actually quite good.

The reception staff were lovely. The man who welcomed us on arrival was particularly helpful and cheerful. The lady on reception was very helpful too…especially dealing with a slightly awkward situation with a man who thought he had left belongings in our room! The hotel itself is a bit ‘tired’ and could do with a bit of an upgrade. But, saying that, our room was clean and tidy and the king size bed was very comfortable in the ‘double room’ we booked. We used the swimming pool and sauna which was an added bonus. Again, the area was a bit ‘tired’ but we enjoyed it. We decided to use the shower in our room as the ones in the changing rooms smelt a bit. The food from the restaurant we had was particularly nice and so was the cooked breakfast. There was a really good choice. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Location perfect for visiting our Son & family for Christmas, which is10 minutes walk away.

View from room 22 was over front with car park and then fairly busy road. Staff were courteous and helpful. Pool was lovely albeit kidney shaped. Parking was plentiful and had 2 disabled places much to our relief beside front entrance. No lift and steep stairs to first floor. Breakfast was plentiful and of great variety. Would stay again. Only problem was an alarm on next door room going off at 5.30am for 20 minutes. Apparently guest had left it minutely ajar. Tried phoning reception ONLY ansaphone not good enough when states reception open 24/7 and we were not sure what to do. Thankfully guest returned after 20 minutes and closed door.

Everything in the hotel took me back to my younger days and set us off a reminiscing about the 1990's. There are some nods to the 21st century but luckily they don't get in the way. The only downside is that the bathroom could have used some black mould remover in places. If you're looking for a class of 1997 reunion venue I would highly recommend this hotel.

Pleasant staff. Room warm. Bed comfortable and clean. Furnishings very tired and dated.

It's a beautiful hotel but it just felt a little underwhelming.

Good Hotel, with good parking and friendly staff. Breakfast is great and the benefit of the swimming pool was great.

The hotel was a little tired but clean, comfy bed and good shower so key point were catered for. Also a good selection and quality breakfast The hotel desperately needs some illumination outside, it looks closed from the main road and the inroad and carparks are not lit at all, it must loose trade because of this if it wasn't for the satnav I would of passed it several times before seeing it.

I found the Hotel to have very friendly, helpful staff and I thought the room was good value for money.

Pool closed and not even informed about this.
