Need new beds , terrible nights sleep very hard, pillow hard. Restraint freezing staff said she didn’t feel cold as busy. Sausage and mash tasteless. Fish and chips not cooked ,very upsetting as stayed in quite a few holiday inns and alway had a great experience,

It’s quite a tired old property reminiscent of the 60s. The carpeted were worn, paint on the woodwork was peeling. There was practically no soundproofing meaning we could hear everything going on in the adjacent rooms and those above and below. The mattress left both of us in pain the next morning. On balance, the staff were welcoming and willing to assist with any requests. The location near Clarence Pier was great. Overall, it’s not what I expected from a Holiday Inn. I tend to gravitate towards the Holiday Inn chain as I can usually expect a modern and comfortable hotel. On this occasion, it did not meet that expectation.

It was quiet as Christmas but the hotel was lovely. The pool etc was lovely the restaurant was great. We had a drink at night and that was very silent. Could do with some music. There was a fan of coke and a kitkat in our room which was great but there was 3 of us and could have 4 in the room so maybe it wasn’t restocked or meant to be in there? I don’t know

Great value. Rooms looking tired and need a refresh. Lots of marks on wall. Glasses in fridge were smelly and dirty.

Decent value hotel for south sea. Nice and clean, modern comfortable and good breakfast.

Christmas party- food cold, staff at bar rude. Not worth the £60

Lovely stay and great location Booked a standard twin room although room pretty cosy with a tiny bathroom just about enough room to close the door without hitting the loo However the location is great as it a ten minute walk to gunwharf quays and ten minutes down to the sea Staff friendly and areas all tidy and clean Yes I will come back but will book a bigger room next time. Didn’t have breakfast as they have increased the price to £16.95 which I think is too dear they no longer let you buy a discounted voucher in advance.

No complaints about the hotel whatsoever. Breakfast was great. I booked the parking when I booked the room through hotels.com and it was £44 Parking is £5 from the hotel.

Lovely big room, very clean, service at checking in very efficient, complimentary snacks a very nice touch!

The hotel it's self was average a typical Holiday inn, it's situated well with good transport links within the city. The rooms were clean & comfortable. The reception staff were miserable, surly, unhelpful & looked like their faces would crack if they smiled (which I didn't see my whole stay!!) Luckily we didn't need to go near them except to check in & get parking voucher!

One of two lifts not working all 3 days, which caused ‘jams’ at busy times of the day. Coffee machines in breakfast area not working properly each morning and staff struggled to rectify! However, breakfast was good and satisfying. Room was clean and adequate, bathroom quite cosy. Convenient for walk into GunWharf or along the seafront. Top stars go to staff in all areas, all very friendly and working so hard to give good service even when sometimes under pressure.

Stay was fine but I got charged twice for the room, payment was taken via Hotels.com and the hotel itself.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn, Portsmouth for many many years as its at a good location and has comfortable rooms. The service is good but weve noticed a determination in the fixtures and fittings over the padt couple of years. This trip in December 2024, the deterioration has got worse with tired looking rooms worn and dirty carpets and bathrooms in need of a refresh. The whole hotel really needs a full refurbishment. Just looking out of the windows, the window sills are dirty and covered in a green slime. However, the reception staff are always nice and courteous. Come on IHG spend some money and give this lovely hotel a makeover.....but that costs money doesn't it!

Prepaid parking does not mean hotel parking, ended up on the street. Service was very slow and many items unavailable.

Reception staff was not really welcoming and not providing enough information about the hotel facility without we are asking for it, rooms were out dated and heater was not turned on , there was no way to control it as it was central heating, radiator never turned on during winter night and they provided portable heater but you are paying around £100 per night and you sleep in a cold room was not acceptable, I wouldn’t recommend and never will stay again ever
