All great, just a shame you have to pay extra to use the sauna, jacuzzi etc and breakfast is expensive for two

The property was very clean and tidy. Our room was really really nice, the decor was old with a modern touch. The staff were very good. We were able to get a late check out and when we turned up at 2 o’clock one hour before check-in, our room is ready and we were able to get in. as it was our anniversary we had a little plate two small sponge cakes with happy anniversary written in chocolate left in a room on arrival which was a lovely touch. Breakfast in the morning to the room was on time hot and what we asked for. The only downside to our stay was it included dinner as well as breakfast. Our evening meal in Colson‘s restaurant was let down by poor service from staff members who had no idea what food was or wasn’t on the menu, and was gutted that there was an additional £10 charge to have items from the grill section when one of those items was the same price or not cheaper than other items we could have included in our deal. As for desert there was six items on the menu and they did not have two of them at all and one other only had half of the availability for that desert. So I can’t down the hotel I can only down on how I feel about Colson’s the restaurant.

Lovely hotel for an overnight work trip, room was on the small side but the rest of the hotel made up for it.

Absolutely beautiful hotel but there are some improvements to be made. Mostly cleanliness. Whilst our room was clean, there were obvious areas that have been missed. Thick dust buildup on the TV, shower head, fridge was thick with ice and an almost empty toilet roll left in the bathroom which isn’t exactly tidy or ideal. We had light switches that did nothing and a random dial in the bathroom which seemed to serve no purpose as well as a broken light which made seeing in the mirror a bit tricky. The floor lamp was broken and the USB sockets on my side of the bed didn’t work. The floors are hardwood and you can hear your neighbours exceptionally clearly if they are wearing heels and there was building work going on somewhere which hotel staff were aware of but it would have been nice if we were warned as we were really hoping to have a quiet lie in. Breakfast is alright, edible but nothing to write home about and it would have been fantastic if we were provided with salt and pepper with the room service breakfast (there was no option on the order menu). It’s an ideal space and could be perfect. The parking was a joke, however, though I’m sure the hotel aren’t entirely responsible. There should be a deal with ECC to allow hotel guests to get some discount in the shopping centre car park. £15 a day is astronomical when you also have to walk 5-10 minutes.

Overall, a very nice hotel in the centre of Exeter. However, I thought that charging hotel guests an extra £20 for access to the spa facility was a bit steep. In most quality hotels, this kind of facility comes with the cost of the room.

Pretty average. I cannot believe it gets such high scores. Staff were friendly but most seemed inexperienced. Food in the eve was below average. It was very expensive for what you actually get. Staff booked me in for dinner in the top floor bar hat actually did not serve any food. Strange when I asked for a dinner reservation. Breakfast was average, food had no taste.I visit Exeter many times a year. First time at this hotel and it will be my last.
