Mercure Haydock Hotel

Room was freezing cold. Even with heating set to 30 degrees. The hotel is starting to like tired and dated. Noticed bedding was dirty when got into bed!

This hotel feels a little tired around the edges . Slightly dated furnishings and chips/stains to the bath . The bed was comfortable but the room was quite cold , even with the heating set up to full blast . Breakfast was good (and a nice surprise for me because i forgot i booked it!) It shpuld be made clearer that there is a £10 up charge per visit to use the pool , very steep in my opinion given that the mens sauna was out of action, steam room underpowered , and rhere were kids swimming lessons i the pool meaning the guests using the facilities were cramped up to one side of the pool!

A nice bright spacious hotel with lovely rooms and plasant staff. Breakfast was decent too. We only had a quick overnight stay.

Great find, great value, great service. What more is there to say!

Looks like it's going through some refurbishments with paint splashed on the walls. The heating didn't work and was offered a fan heater. They were aware of the issues, but didn't contact me prior to arrival and left it for me to find. out. no offer of compensation.

Good lounge areas for meeting up with groups. Rooms dated and need refresh

Enjoyable stay, friendly staff but for the love of all that is holy, please change the tea bags in the rooms. There are no words to describe how bad they are. To call them tasteless is probably a compliment! Describing them as ' English Breakfast Tea' is an insult to the English, English Breakfast and Tea!

I am very disappointed with my recent stay at this hotel. Firstly, I was charged £10 to use the swimming pool, despite already paying £130 per night for the room. This charge feels excessive and was not clearly disclosed on the Hotels.com website. Had I known about this additional fee, I would not have booked the hotel. More concerning, however, was the lack of heat in my room. On the first night, the heating system was broken, and the room was so cold that I had to wear a jumper and socks just to stay warm. I reported this issue to reception and requested a heater for the second night. While a small heater was provided, it didn’t work. I returned to reception, and they gave me a replacement heater. Unfortunately, this heater was also too small to make any real difference, and I spent a second night unable to sleep properly because of the cold. I raised my concerns with reception, but my complaints were not addressed satisfactorily. This experience was far below the standard I expected, and I feel let down by both the facilities and the customer service.

This suited me for a work event at Haydock Park, a 2/3 minute drive away. From the outside the hotel looks welcoming, as were the staff at reception. However, it is well overdue a refurb, the rooms were especially cold, with the heater set at its highest still inadequate. It did snow lightly during the evening but I would expect a warmer room. The evening bar meal (chicken burger), wasn’t great. It was ordered at 8pm, having just arrived at the hotel after a long drive. It was quite burnt and mostly left. The restaurant area also felt tired, carpets, decor, etc. and the breakfast was only passable. Ideal location for the racecourse, but little else would entice me back.

Disappointed in having to pay for the leisure facilities at £10 per day each person. If we knew this pre booking, we would of booked elsewhere as this was already more expensive then the average hotel around the area, when asked about this the staff said it’s in the small print which seemed very deceitful. Room was clean and the bed was huge and comfortable however painted terribly and the TV remote didn’t work. Looking at other reviews I don’t think we’re the only ones who feel this way.

Plenty of free parking, staff all very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size clean and very quiet. The cooked breakfast looked awful all dried out and very few veggie options. The security was non existant the doors to the outside around the hotel were left wide open and not locked also making parts of the hotel freezing.

Long check in, hotel room had no heating was freezing cold, had to go to reception twice for a remote for tv and to ask for a heater, party going on in room facing and corridor stunk of smoke. Bangin on door hardly slept Terrible stay

We had a lovely over night stay, food was lovely. Friendly helpful staff. I would recommend this to anyone and would happily stay there again.

Highlighting this as I missed it at the time of booking. they’ve started to charge to use the pool at £10 per head per dip. It’s too expensive for the quality of the facilities. Other hotels in the area have better pools and don’t charge. Means I won’t be booking here again as this was always the appeal of the place.

We arrived at the hotel at 10.30pm with 2 children after a long car journey, and the first impression was no good as music was blasting from the hotel. We were then told that the room had been double booked and despite the fact we had prepaid there wasn’t a room available for a family. The original suggestion was that the children could sleep on the floor, which was later not on option and we were told we would need to find another hotel. After some discussion a room was found, I was originally thankful but quickly regretted this upon realising there room was very close to the wedding marquee and the music went on until 12pm. The children were unable to get to sleep. We were hoping for a relaxing stay, but this wasn’t the case. The pool was an additional £10 for 1 adult and 2 children. Breakfast was mediocre. The noise and room situation seems to be a regular occurrence but sadly the hotel does not seem to care enough to put this right. We’ve actually stayed here many times before but it’s gone down hill and we would stay elsewhere in future.

Stay was good, we usually use this hotel as the kids love the swimming pool. - rooms need updating especially in the bathrooms - rooms need a deep clean still left over remanence from guests before. - The biggest blow was the £10per adult charge and £4.50 charge for children to enter the swimming pool- no previous information to tell you this or anywhere on the booking platform. if you your family visited 3x during the duration of your stay it was nearly cheaper to get a membership!!!!! - on another note we got charged £12 each (normal amount for ex guests even when staying at the hotel)- should have been refunded the difference) in future after staying here for many of years i think we would be better off at the Holiday inn where the swimming is free and the rooms are cleaner and modern.
