What a beautiful spot! The chateau is charming, the hotel rooms are beautifully renovated, the restaurant is excellent, and the staff is warm and helpful. We loved the contemporary art that was on display...the owners really have excellent taste. It was winter so the gardens were not yet in bloom and we will definitely return to see them in their full glory. Highly recommended! If your plans down allow staying overnight, it is worth a visit to the chateau and restaurant.

Today we were able to visit the Chateau Le Rivau. Even in the first room there is a conglomerate of bad taste, hunting trophies, some of which have been "artistically" altered, which is neither particularly tasteful, funny nor unusual. This style continues in the remaining three rooms. It's a shame, because if these had been left in their original condition and restored with sensitivity, they would have been interesting to look at in their beauty and historical significance. The outdoor areas are less like gardens and more like unkempt terrain. Even a natural garden is not nice to look at if last year's leaves and dead plants are not removed and weeds sprout everywhere. When it comes to artistic design, a few ratty garden gnomes aren't necessarily original. And the completely dirty and far too narrow cage in which two pigeons live is most likely a case for animal protection. All in all, a visit is neither worth the trip nor the entrance fee!

The welcome is very warm, the place magical and our Henri II room very comfortable. We really appreciated the very careful decoration and not overloaded as it can often be in the rooms offered by certain castles. Mention for the restaurant "Jardin secret" which offers the most refined cuisine.

We stayed there for 2 nights from August 24th to 26th. We were perfectly welcomed by Thomas, not having an electric vehicle charger on site he quickly found a solution for us, he was very professional. The rooms are very beautiful, you realize a childhood dream and actually feel like a prince and princess, the place has kept the charm of the era while being very modern (air conditioning, comfortable bed, towel dryer, etc.) The breakfast was really very good, honey from the castle's bees, delicious (I was sad that everything had already been sold normally they also offer it in the shop!), pancakes, homemade yogurts, fruit, pastries , fried eggs on demand! After the visitors, we have privileged access to the gardens which are splendid. And the castle's gastronomic restaurant is wonderful, a real delight, we had a great time, you just have to book in advance, the same goes for the guided tour, we went the same day and unfortunately there was no more availability . The place has been restored with finesse and care and retains its old charm. If you have the opportunity, I can only recommend that you spend at least one night in this wonderful place, I hope to be able to return there on my next visit!
