Le chambard is a cute hotel in the heart of Kaysersberg. I write this review with mix feelings, as I think this is an expensive experience - not fully value for money. To start with Location is unbeatable right in the heart of Kaysersberg (but also the town is not that big). The staff at the reception the first night were truly non pleasant and rude, but the guy who helped us with our bags to our room was a sweetheart. Then in the room we found a bottle of Crémant Alsacienne and Jus de Pomme for the little ones as a courtesy - great touch! The bath and shower in our suite were not fully working and we had challenges with the hot water at 10am- surprising for a luxury hotel in your top room. The extra bed they put for my 4yo was truly uncomfortable at 100€ per night. The spa amenities are great and comfy. The breakfast is super famous and also have mix feelings. Although they have a delicious variety for the grown ups, for the kids variety is not large. So I ordered scrambled eggs well done for my son and in France they struggle to make them well done (they find it almost an insult) so they brought them as they wanted so my kid didn’t eat them and end up just eating a croissant (we paid 20€ for the child breakfast, literally the most expensive croissant!)

An overnight stay on the way back to the UK turned into a great 2 day sojourn. We were tempted by the Bib gourmand accolade, Olivier Nast's reputation and the Relais label. The bistro was superb, the hotel warm and welcoming, staff professional and you couldn't fault its position in the centre of a wonderfully traditional Alsace town. The quality and choice at breakfast exemplary. We spent more than intended - but gosh was it worth it! This is French hospitality at its best.

We stayed here with our family of 11 for a special celebration and were deeply disappointed by a few key elements. The first night, we went to dinner at the Brasserie-style restaurant, and spent over 3 hours at the table for a main course + dessert. It took over an hour to get the kids' meals, despite asking for these rather rapidly as we had 5 hungry kids at the table. The wine was also not topped up so we ended up serving ourselves from our bottle. Not the service you expect from a 600eur dinner. On the second night we went to eat at the fine-dining restaurant (which was great) but had booked 2 babysitters for the 5 children in our group. Unfortunately, only 1 of the babysitters showed up - despite receiving an email confirmation - and though she did a great job, we were still asked to pay the full fee - 80eur/hr!! - as if we had the two babysitters. I even double-checked the rate with her on the night of (she told me 35eur/hr) and the next day upon checking out we were requested to pay the additional 100EUR as they blind-sighted us with this surprise. After spending THOUSANDS for our weekend stay, we were livid with the lack of courtesy and acknowledgment of *their* mistake. What a nasty little parting gift. Needless to say, not the service you would expect from a 5* hotel, and we would know at 3 members of our group graduated from the world's leading hospitality management school. We had also booked 2 rooms for our family (2 adults + 3 kids) and despite asking for rooms next to each other, found out upon arriving that they were on the same floor but that one was around the corner from the other, so not at all convenient for parents of young children. A real shame. The overall the experience felt like a total money grab, with a service standard that's definitely lacking. Over-inflated prices, over-inflated egos - beware.

We had a beautiful unit with a balcony overlooking the vineyards. The service was excellent, unobtrusive and unpretentious. The meals at the two restaurants were all outstanding in their own right. The small town and setting were very charming. We loved our stay at Le Chambard.

We spent a few days at the Chambard in Kaysersberg during our trip to France, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about it. The hotel is gorgeous—everything about it feels cozy yet luxurious. The highlight of our stay was definitely the food. We dined at La Table d’Olivier Nasti, and the meals were on another level. Olivier Nasti is seriously one of the best chefs I’ve ever come across. The breakfasts were a highlight, too. Pastry chef Jordan and his team are magicians. Every morning we were speechless at how beautiful and delicious everything was. And the location? Just breathtaking. The hotel is surrounded by vineyards, and the whole area feels like something out of a storybook. It’s one of the most beautiful places on earth, and I can’t wait to visit again every time we’re in France. Chambard is truly special.
