Ignore the outside of the building. It's a commercial property so looks like it, but once you're inside who cares. What's important here is the great location. It was an easy, very direct three minute walk from the railway station with cases etc and within spitting distance of a bridge over the canal for a five minute stroll into the city centre. The apartment is perfect for a couple and had all we needed for our stay. It was warm and (mostly) private, as long as you remembered it overlooked other buildings and a tram stop! The management were quite open about things being a bit tired here and there so there weren't any great surprises. And yes, perhaps it could do with some fresh paint and some new towels, but that's just an observation. Overall we were very happy and comfortable and close to a lot of convenient things not of a touristy nature.
This property is very close to the main train station, and then a short walk to the Christmas markets, Petite France and the Cathedral. It is roomy with good amenities. Great staying in a place with a little kitchen. Good communication before arrival about accessing the apartment.
The studio was ideal for our needs, easy access to centre of Strasbourg and station, everywhere within walking distance, we stayed in the cosy which was very spacious and clean, if you prefer to come and go without the restrictions of a hotel I would definitely recommend Le Gabriel for a comfortable and good nights sleep very quiet at night
