Hotel Donatello

Great little hotel not far from train station and easily walkable to main historical area. Some nice little restaurants nearby as well. Staff were friendly and helpful as they could! Good for mid budget. The portico’s also saved me from the rain!

We did not have a car. We took a taxi to and from the train station. Nice hotel with a great location.

The room was very clean, and had all that’s needed. The AC was very good which is so important if you are visiting in summer months. The staff is very responsive and accommodated a late check in. The beds and pillows were the best out the entire stay in Italy for this price, the bathroom is a bit small but very clean and has all that’s needed. I would stay here again!

Excellent location between station and city centre. All sights and restaurants within 10-15min walk. Staff really helpful. Great value for money.

Good hotel in Bologna with an ok breakfast. We stayed here for 1 night because I didnt realize our flight day was off by a day. The area is a bit rough if you walk outside the touristy areas

Very friendly and helpful staff. The sink in my room had no stopper. The towels were sometimes fresh. No hand towel one day. Only one tea bag and coffee sachet each day but several sachets of sugar. There were problems with a leak from the handbasin. It was resolved once but I don't think it was a permanent solution.

The property is in a great location, just far enough away from the train station to avoid noise and congestion but close enough to easily catch trains. Easily walkable to historical centre and heaps of cafes. The rooms themselves are modest, which we were cool with as the price of this motel was cheap compared to others in the area. But the showers had a lot of mould and the bedspread was really grubby. We were in a room facing the main road but the windows have double glazing so this cut out pretty much all of the street noise. But there was noise from neighbouring guests, every conversation and movement within other rooms was audible. The staff at check in and check out were great however we had an issue with staff member Olga about wifi. We could not get wifi to work with the log in we were given as part of the wifi sign up process and her exact words to us were, “I have wifi, everyone else here has wifi so if you don’t have wifi it is your problem”. We were a long way from home and trying to use wifi to maintain contact with family, so this was really disappointing. The fact she was super rude just left a bad taste for our stay here. If you are after low cost accommodation in a central location then this motel is a good choice. We would not stay here again.

On a busy weekend, having booked 7 weeks in advance, we were allocated a very small double room with a cramped bathroom for a three night stay. The wallpaper was peeling from the wall, the AC could only be set to heat (apparently changeover to cooling is a date mandated by the municipality and had been delayed due to a cool weather spell, or that was the explanation given by staff). The room was stifling but at least the windows opened for some relief. By far the worst feature was the tiny, platformed retro fitted bathroom, akin to that in a train sleeper cabin. There was hardly room to step in or out of the shower or sit comfortably on the toilet. The bidet folded back under the wash basin. The tiles were damaged and some grout mould was present. While the hotel is in a heritage building, its hard to excuse these shortcomings. Pluses were a mini fridge in the room, good daily room service, approachable staff with good English, good variety of breakfast options at a reasonable price and the excellent location. Would not stay again.

Hotel was walkable to sights around Bolonga and many restaurants. Room was smaller than others than I stayed in while on my trip. Clean room and did not hear any noise around the hotel from room.
