This is the second time staying at the Princess Nikko within about 1 year. The Princess Nikko is both charming, traditional (provide an actual door key!), The service standard and attention to customer needs is amazing and room size is absolutely huge (the washroom was almost as big as some hotel rooms we stayed at in Tokyo). You are greeted at the door as if you are the most important person in the hotel. The breakfast is also great offering a good variety. This was the absolute highlight of our two week trip as it relates to hotel stays. The location is a reasonable walk to the main downtown area and a short walk to the subway station but also located just far enough in a quieter part of the neighbourhood. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel, which continues to bring us back to Princess Nikko when visiting Kyoto. There is an extra subtle level of traditional Japanese hospitality offered that makes this place special. Well done!

The hotel is beautiful and the stuff is friendly. However, nobody speaks English, which is difficult if you are staying in a hotel of international acclaim. They did not inform us that we needed reservations to eat at any of the restaurants on New Year’s Day. They only advised us to make reservations for New Year’s Eve, and we found ourselves Without any food or options as every restaurant in town was closed. Furthermore, we found it very disappointing that the bar closed down at 10 PM on New Year’s Eve.

Great upscale hotel with excellent staff. Large rooms with very nice bathroom with top of the line Toto toilet. Located in walking distance to Daimaru Dept store, and many quaint restaurants and bars. The breakfast buffet at the hotel was excellent. The housekeeping staff and hotel desk staff were polite and helpful. I would definitely book this hotel again.

Good hotel in a convenient Kyoto location, near subway and bus stops. The rooms are large by Japanese standards. The are 2 convenience stores very near and a number of restaurants. It's easy to catch a taxi from the hotel. The service was exceptional, very polite and efficient staff. A highly recommended hotel for Kyoto.

Decent hotel located close to the central area. I was impressed with receptionist that willing to inform about the hotel. However, front staff was lack of willing to help an un reliable. I have been told by their staff via expedia chat that I can park for free until 13.00 of check out date, but when I arrived suddenly charged 1500 yen and have to pay extra after 12.00pm with irresponsible to the previous info.
