Cozy, comfortable, nice. We spent a relaxed night at this onsen. Had a tasty dinner, went deer watching, and had a hot bath. Even though the lack of our Japanese, we were able to get by and had a great time with the family. We stayed in a Japanese room which we enjoyed.

Nice place for a relaxing weekend. Is nice and quiet. There's a nice walk up the mountain with good views. I enjoyed the onsen and having a BBQ. The cottages are a little old but perfectly fine for relaxing in. The bath is a little small but was never crowded and had soap and shampoo. It was nice weather and cool in the evening which was the main reason for going, escaping the horror of Osaka's summer. They have two cottages where you can bring pets so our dog was also grateful for the holiday. Was able to practice a little night photography and see some storms further north.

If remote, isolated, shabby but quiet and away from civilization place is needed, this can be a good destination. Facility is old and cheap but attracts good size of visitors at peak season thanks to variety of outdoor activities.

It was very quiet and relaxing. I was thrilled to see wild rabbits come close to the building and a family of deer. There are many stars in the sky at night! ! I didn't come across a large migration of deer at night, but I was happy to see a herd moving along the ridgeline in the evening.
