Beautiful hotel in a great location to explore Nara and Nara Park. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Both
Japanese and American style. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Bathrooms were new and modern. Bed was comfortable. Overall great stay and we’d go back.

The Nara Hotel far exceeded our expectations. The room was comfortable and spacious. The service was friendly and impeccable. The hotel itself is so interesting and beautiful. The setting couldn't be better. Nestled in a wooded area and yet walking distance to the many sights, restaurants, and natural wildlife (gentle deer all around).

We were told the privilege of VIP afternoon tea lounge access, and ended up paying for the cakes with an excessive price tag which was not even noticeably displayed for the customers. Felt like to be cheated, and VIPs supposed to have access to drinks and snacks provided in the room.

Really nice overnight in this beautiful, historic old hotel, perfectly situated to walk up to the park and Todaiji the following day. Lovely dinner in the main dining room. We stayed in a Japanese-style room with a private Onsen tub. Enjoyed looking at all the old pictures. Loved our stay!

So far it's the best place (out of five) I've stayed in Japan on this trip. Hotel is very comfortable and inviting with interesting history. Rooms are well sized and well designed making out stay really pleasant.

The rooms here are very outdated. We had old green carpet and pink tile over the whole bathroom. Our TV was on the same wall as the beds, so you couldn't watch tv from the bed. We asked to move but they said they were full. Our one reprieve from our awful room (and with food we could tolerate) was the bar, but on the second night the whole bar was reserved so we couldn't sit there. The hotel reeks of faded glory. That being said, the service and the hotel area were great.

The hotel has an amazing history and generally is very nice but dated and a bit tired. Our traditional Japanese room, which was semi below ground felt like we were in a dank basement.
For the price, I felt it was a bit much compared to other more modern, family friendly hotels in the Kyoto/Osaka/Nara area.

This hotel is beyond my imagination. I had the Japanese style room and my goodness…how I wish I had more time here to enjoy this place. I would stay again! I loooooooove the vibe and ambience it has to offer.
