This hotel is a joke. First of all, I'll point out that the walls in the room are like paper, you can even hear regular conversations from the next room, so if you want to sleep, forget about it. There are earplugs on the bedside table, which do not help at all. Right from the start, the big red flag is that the parking fee is 17 EURO per day, it is daylight robbery, if you download the app you pay 12 euro. I understand the parking fees, but 17 euro? That is definitely too much. The guy standing behind the reception desk seems to be offended by the whole world. The room is small, nothing special for this price. For what they offer, the price for this hotel is definitely too high. The only good thing is the location. Nothing more. I do not recommend.

Lovely building, unfortunately can’t be noisy from the school below, church bells and thin walls. A bit of a walk across the river to the restaurants. There are two great restaurants nearby, la cuchera and pizza Rena.

Excellent value for money, being situated not far from local sights & plenty of bars & restaurants. Breakfast only provided & the rooms are fairly basic, but perfectly adequate for a visitors needs.

BE WARNED; At the Macia Monasterio Los Basilios there is a real risk you will get a downgraded room or no room at all. As well travelled pensioners throughout Europe, this hotel is responsible for our worst experience. READ ON AND DECIDE IF YOU REALLY WISH TO RISK YOUR BREAK AT THIS HOTEL. My partner and I booked the Superior Terrace room at the Macià Monastery, Granada but on arrival it was not available until the next day. We were told the cause was a technical fault, but the manager later said it was due to overbooking. The receptionist told us to take the downgrade room or 'find another hotel'. WHAT A TERRIBLE WELCOME !!! The room offered had a dank smell, screaming hinges on the bathroom door, and two main lights not working, loud air-conditioning and a very dinghy outlook. We did move the next day with all the considerable inconvenience of repacking. An email of complaint (attached below) to the Macia head office was never responded to. The only compensation offered was being charged the lower price of the confort room, which was everything but comfortable!!! I initiated a “Hojas de Reclamaciones” complaint which the hotel manager must sign and pass to the government, but the manager was always hiding. I caught him on the last day by barging into his office, even though the receptionist claimed he was out!!! Surprisingly there were other completed complaint forms on his desk, each with their own green top copies and attached carbon copies; My situation is not an isolated occurrence, complaints are routine at the Monasterio Los Basilios For the Macia Monasterio Los Basilios hotel to so casually abuse the key rule of providing the room as booked by the guest, and for the management to hide and deceive, sums the approach from this hotel and Macia. The managers response to the government is attached. The deceit is astonishing. He claims we were offered a similar room at another Macia hotel; this is absolutely not true as confirmed by my ignored email to head office sent soon after being given the downgrade room (attached). There were multiple complaints forms on the managers desk, each with their own individual green top form. A breakfast was offered the day before leaving just minutes before the breakfast room was closing so was not taken, or wanted. The “Hojas de Reclamaciones" system has proved worthless, as all that has happened is for the government to pass the managers response. Yet the government will be aware of the multiple complaints from this hotel. Granada is a great city; just make sure you do not end up with the bad apple in the bag as these two 70+ pensioners did.

Stayed here for three nights during a lovely trip to Andalusia. The hotel is quite well located but not in the very center of Granada. Thus, getting to the main sights such as the Al Hambra will take quite a while walking or a short taxi ride. The rooms are functional but ours was noisy. Many of the rooms face a school and sports square, so there will be a lot of noise from screaming children during weekdays. The hotel has some charm and is located in a historic building, formerly having been a monastery. The ground floor, with the cloisters and beautifully decorated walls, and central courtyard make you feel like you’re living the monastic life. Check-in and check-out were both fast and hassle-free, so no complaints in that regard.
