UNBELIEVABLE: DISHONEST STAFF, TERRIBLE SERVICE, AND BROKEN PROMISES - AVOID THIS PROPERTY AT ALL COSTS!
My wife and I recently had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience at NH Valencia that I feel compelled to share as a warning to other travelers, which I typically don't do. In all my years of frequent travel, staying at over 500 hotels, I have never before encountered such poor service, dishonest practices, and an utter lack of accountability. Literally feels like SCAM, even though everything is not that simple.
We arrived at the hotel around 7am and booked a room for 1 night. However, at midday, a staff member came to our room and informed us it was check-out time and we needed to leave immediately. Apparently, the front desk agent who checked us in had arbitrarily decided, without any communication with us, that we only wanted the room for a few morning hours. This was absolutely not the case, as we had clearly stated upon check-in that we required the room for a full night's stay.
When we tried to address this unacceptable situation with the hotel staff and management, we were met with indifference and an unwillingness to take any responsibility for their mistake. Rather than acknowledging the clear error made by their front desk staff and working to make it right, they had the audacity to suggest that we should pay for an additional night's stay, in essence asking us to pay for THEIR mistake. This is beyond unacceptable.
Adding insult to injury, they would not even honor our reasonable offer to pay an early check-in fee to account for the few hours we had been in the room prior to the regular check-in time. It was apparent they were simply trying to extract more money from us rather than providing fair customer service.
In the end, due to the hotel's dishonest and predatory tactics, we were essentially swindled out of 82€ for a stay of just a few hours, rather than the full night we had booked and paid for. With no choice but to leave and find alternate accommodations, we felt robbed and mistreated by an establishment whose singular goal seems to be taking advantage of guests and shirking accountability at every turn.
TRAVELERS BEWARE:
I urge all travelers to avoid NH Valencia at all costs. Do not risk suffering the same fate of being scammed and mistreated by a hotel that has no regard for honest business practices or guest satisfaction. There are plenty of reputable hotels in the area - choose one of those and spare yourself the frustration and financial loss.
For completeness, I'll add that beyond the customer service issues, the facilities were lacking as well. The sauna was lukewarm at best and did not have basic amenities like robes and slippers, requiring guests to traverse common areas in their street clothes.
In summary, this hotel failed in every regard, from dishonest practices, to uncaring staff, to subpar amenities. Avoid at all costs and take your business to an establishment that values its guests.
UPD: As you can see they just replied that “yeah it was booked for several hours in the morning”. This is all you need to understand given the above about them and their attitude towards honest clients. Zero responsibility for the pure errors of their team.
