Hampton Inn Mesa Verde/Cortez
Montezuma County, Colorado
Resting at 6200 feet altitude, our hotel rests in the foremost southwest corner of the State of Colorado. Natives of the area are blessed with the wonderful four seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Large reservoirs, majestic mountains and stately pines are situated to the north of us. Ute lands, Navajo lands, gorgeous rock formations and desert landscape are to the to the south. Mesa Verde National Park, a world heritage site, is immediately to the east of us, protecting of cliff dwellings and thousands of archaeological sites. The air is thin, the history is rich and the views are spectacular. You will discover how Ancestral Puebloans lived with the utmost respect for the land. Weather in our area is forever changing, possibly going from an 80 degree farenheit afternoon to a cool 40 degrees Fahrenheit, or below, in the wee morning hours. We will, on occasion wake up to greet a warm sunny morning, transitioning into rainfall in the afternoon, tuning to sleet then a heavy snowfall during the evening. The locals dress in layers. The Four Corners Monument, south of Cortez, marks the quadripoint in the Southwestern United States where the states of Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado meet. It is the only point in the United States shared by four states.
