JW Marriott Houston Downtown

Perfect

We had a great time. The room was beautiful, the food was great, and the staff was lovely. The hotel was undergoing construction so we couldn’t explore much but would stay again.

Typically JW Marriott is a solid place to stay. Quaint, clean, friendly staff, excellent service beginning with the bellmen on. However, a few hours prior to arrival, we received notification that the hotel was under renovations & the valet drop was moved to the 10th floor of a parking garage. It was like a maze to get to the hotel lobby. My guess it prob took take at least 10min for a round trip to and from the valet. The front desk person was friendly and very personable, matter of fact the entire hotel staff provided excellent service. The room was spacious and clean, with zero view. Our view was that of other JW hotel rooms & construction/destruction. Our room did not directly face the construction, we could see the rooms under renovation to our right. Work began between 7am-8am Saturday morning with loud banging. We could literally see the work happening. Good thing for us, we left our curtains closed and our room by 9am and did not return until after 10pm; however work resumed Sunday around 8am. Although we LOVE staying at this particular JW because of the small size and excellent service. I just wish we would have know about construction or been put on a floor that was not at construction level. I did not complain to the front desk as we were in for a quick trip and did not spend much time in the hotel. If you are staying ask about construction status.

Main street under construction

There is construction right in front the Marriott during my whole stay. I had booked the hotel at twice the price of surrounding hotels because of convenience of access on Main Street. Unfortunately, the entire block on Main Street is blocked and inconvenient and the Marriott still charges their regular prices even when it is not worth the value. AC Hotel, Le Meridien or Aloft would have been half the price and more convenient. The staff wanted to recognize the troubles with a 5k points voucher which is worth about $20 -- not really commensurate with a 7-day stay during the New Year holidays.

To many homeless people around and Norse unity at the door

Check in was terrible arrived 3, rooms available at 5pm. No drivable access to front door. Carried luggage from parking garage to rooms. Quality location; personable staff.

Did not enjoy my dining experience due to staff having extremely loud personal conversations.

The hotel in general is very clean everything was super nice just the parking situation wasn’t the best because they are fixing the street it would take you to so many elevators just to get to the lobby and the parking garage was horrible but that’s just because they are fixing the street right in front of the entrance but other than that the hotel is amazing

With all the construction it was unclear where parking for the hotel is, research ahead. Staff were pleasant, bed was very comfortable.

Parking was horrible.

Older hotel, infrastructure needs work. Room door handles very difficult to operate. TV remotes OLD and are semi functional. How hard is it to get a TV remote that works?Room service coffee cups are too small and not functional for people with larger hands. Room service large coffee pot old and hard to pour. Just an old worn out hotel. Not up to JW Marriott standards.

This wa a great, classy and very upscale property. Service was top tier

I like everything about the property. I just spent one night there with my boyfriend and we both loved it. Amazing place.

We stayed on the second floor and you could hear everything above me. I booked this hotel for 2 days and I barely got any sleep the first night. It sounded like it was kids above me jumping or someone dragging something across the floor. The walls are thin, the noise outside from the train and the vacuum from housekeeping kept me up. I would never stay here again!

Clean hotel and very nice room (Executive King) but no parking garage or parking validation which was inconvenient and an extra cost.

Very amazing from the staff to check out

Overall, the stay was fine. However, I was disappointed that the area around the property was under construction making it very accessible unfriendly for anyone with a disability. The staff did try to make accommodations, but valet and parking outside of the hotel was unsatisfactory. Due to construction, valet was a block down the street meaning that you had to walk a block in the rain with your luggage to get to the hotel entrance. The same is true for self-park. It rained my entire stay. As someone who has a walking disorder, it was very challenging, and I had no forewarning that this would be the scenario.
