Loved our double room on a high floor. The whole hotel is aesthetically pleasing. Check in was problematic. Most employees are nice and helpful but a couple were the opposite.

We had an amazing time! Love this hotel, I have stayed here the last 2 times I have been in the city! Rooftop is amazing, lobby bars are nice, great location within walking distance to Katz Deli, Sweet Chick, Russ & Daughters & so much more!

Not a fan of not being able to call reception/desk directly from room. There needs to be a larger trash receptacle- having to throw coffee cups away in tiny bath bin was annoying. "Essentials" room only had water and ice no extra glasses or cups. At the room and resort fee price point I would expect more.

I’ve stayed at this hotel 4 times and ‘had’ always loved it. The staff were wonderful, but didn’t make any effort to honour my upgrade and heating in my room was broken for the entire stay. They fixed it on the final day. The overall feeling I got from the hotel was that they couldn’t really be bothered about my stay and just wanted to get me in and out! It’s lost its ‘shine’, so this will be the final stay at Public!

I stay here for new year with my husband. Overall the hotel design looks amazing and it was clean and organized. The only complain was the service. The security’s staff was very rude every time that you asked for some information and the night on the 31st was worse.
We paid a good amount of money to get in to the roof top for new year (supposed to include champagne for the midnight they never happened) and on top of that they made us exit the hotel in the pouring rain just to re enter to use the same elevator to go up to the roof. That elevator was easily acessible from the inside but only people with table reservations could enter the exact same elevator but from inside. Overall service throughout the entire hotel was terrible and lax at best.

Second time staying at the Public on my birthday. We fly in on a red eye and our room isn’t ready until 4pm, and the concierge says “oh we forgot to text you the room was ready”…before we were able to check in early and had a bottle of wine and chocolates for my birthday. Had no upgrades, which is fine, but 5th floor next to the night club wasn’t great at night. Escalator was broken too. Overall made me not want to come to Public which is sad, aesthetically it’s a nice hotel, but wanted that extra touch. The hardest part was coming in on a red eye and not having a room, I understand it’s not guaranteed but I’m pregnant and I emailed them in advance too, would’ve been nice to get even a few hours early…
