About Black Saturday 2024

Black Saturday, also known as Holy Saturday (Sábado de Gloria), is the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. It is a public holiday in the Philippines and a significant day in the observance of Holy Week, a major religious tradition for the predominantly Catholic population. The name "Black Saturday" reflects the day's association with mourning and grief. It commemorates the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, and traditionally, the day is marked by solemnity and reflection. While some Western cultures simply refer to it as Holy Saturday, the Philippines specifically uses the term "Black" to emphasize the somber mood.
