Hotel is outstanding. Extremely clean, convenient location. I would highly recommend. I would also like to thank the front office staff for being absolutely brilliant. Also, I’d like to thank the restaurant. Staff always pleasant and kind. Also a shout out to housekeeping who did an excellent job. Thank you so much.

Pleasant helpful staff, good breakfast. Room was clean and comfortable enough. Decor in hallways and corridors is a bit tired.

No batteries in tv remote and staff refused to supply any. Heating in room not working. On the second night staying a random person was given a key to my room and walked while I was in bed. Awful hotel.

This is a lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. Very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. I would particularly applaud receptionists. Only slight negative would be dinner. Placed at a table which wasn’t set properly and had to pinch cutlery from an adjoining table. Even when the waitress came to take our order she didn’t notice! But overall we lived our stay. Room was very well equipped, quiet and very comfortable.

Short stay for a Halloween party at Mabie Farm. I didn’t get out to see any sites after that as my waterproof Vessie’s failed miserably. Wet feet, soaked socks plus no other shoes to get out and about in. My own fault. The hotel staff have been amazing ( let me into dining room in slippers)except for the wake-up call a day early to vacate my room😂. I can’t give a review on property except it looks amazing in pictures I have seen. Farther out than I expected from city centre. I wanted to see the shops but I unfortunately couldn’t get out. It is sad to have come this far and not get the Dumfries experience. Hotel is not to blame but I don’t see me coming back.

Fantastic property! Interesting history of The Crichton, beautiful botanical garden on the grounds, as well as an interesting cathedral. The breakfasts were top-notch, the garden view room was well appointed and taken care of. Thank you.

Very poor operator service. I was travelling with children and was promised interconnecting rooms. This did not happen. I have had no reply IHG with an apology. I tried calling them to get help, however, no luck. I tried to sort the problem at check out, again, no luck! It was a difficult stay.

The old part of the building is really imposing in its red brick and traditional appearance. The modern hotel part is nothing special to look at. However the rooms were comfortable and cosy and i slept really well. Little dated round the edges but all in a nice place

The hotel restaurant was excellent. The picture for the hotel is a little misleading…the parking area is by a white building next to the hotel. Reception and the restaurant are in the building pictured.

The setting was quiet unique based on the university grounds. We stayed during the summer holidays, it may be quiet different during term time. The grounds are lovely.

Our stay was only marred by three very minor issues: 1) there was no decent coffee available at breakfast as the coffee machine was broken. The alternative coffee was really not nice at all. 2) the bar didn’t start serving until 6pm and the selection of drinks on display seemed very limited. 3) the bedroom window locking mechanism was broken so it failed to close properly. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay at the hotel in the future.

Convenient location for Dumfries and as a one night stop over for onward travel to Edinburgh. Staff very friendly and helpful and easy car parking. Room was basic but had everything we needed for one night. If you want breakfast get a voucher from reception first (rather than going straight to restaurant) as you’ll get a price reduction.

We booked an accessible room but unlike our previous stay there this had no walk in shower. Repeated fire alarms on the Monday evening didn’t improve. On Monday evening my partner unfortunately fell and I was unable to help her up so I pressed the assistance button . Reception phoned but was only interested in telling me how to switch it off and didn’t ask what the problem was, then said she would send a colleague. The colleague then arrived and proceeded to show me how to switch it off and was about to leave when I pointed out my partner on the floor. “Oh , I will get a colleague “. Then a man ,who I assume was the duty manager “ arrived and we were able to get her up. The lift was then out of order for two days so I don’t need to elaborate on the problem of being disabled on the first floor. I must at this point praise staff who helped me get her down the stairs but would suggest you get a different contractor to maintain your lift. So all this did nothing to enhance our visit, the reason for which was the funeral of my partners 99 year old father
