This is a very difficult hotel to review. It’s in a beautiful setting with lots of fantastic things to do in the country. The food is mostly fantastic, the wine list is exceptional, and the staff is magnificent. There’s a lot to like. But there are some fundamental things missing: the WiFi is abysmal. In 2025, this is unacceptable and despite my many complaints, nothing was done about it. Looking through the other reviews, it seems like this is a consistent complaint going back years. If you’re on vacation and need to stay connected with work, this is absolutely not the hotel for you. Trust me. Save yourself the stress of walking around looking for a 5G connection in a corner of your room. The toilet in our room ran all night and wouldn’t flush. I asked for it to be fixed. It wasn’t. If you bring a pet, they make you stay in one of the basement rooms. The cellular connection down there is awful and of course the WiFi doesn’t work. The rooms are spacious and pretty, but only superficially so. You only have to look casually to see wood plank floors buckling, frayed carpeting, some rooms that are too hot while the room next door is too cold, and an absolutely impenetrable steampunk shower system that would befuddle Stephen Hawking. Overall, the gastronomic experience and service are fantastic. My wife and kid went to the spa and loved it. There are certain things that would be easy for the hotel to fix, but judging by the complaints in the reviews dating back months, the hotel has deemed they’re not sufficiently important to address. It’s a shame.

Beautiful hotel with exceptional facilities - golf course is great (played four times in four days!). During the weekends is busier, but midweek is extremely quiet and you have course to yourself. Food and drink is amazing and lovely spots to have an evening drink. Is off the regular tourist trail, making it a good spot and very serene. Grounds are beautiful for a wonder, with the old fontes / follies from the spas hay day

Beautiful hotel, unfortunately the thermal springs are closed. The spa has a pool (you have to pay to use it, but it’s not thermal water). The rooms are beautifully decorated, but the air conditioning doesn’t work. I complained many times. They relocated me to supposedly upgrade room, facing the back. My original room had a beautiful view. So actually they downgraded me. The food is excellent and the service superior. The spa has good menu of services. I will not return. I spent four days, there is not much to do. If you are looking for golfing there is nice golf field. My review could had been better should they fixed the air conditioning. But it took me many, many complains ( 10 times at least).

Let’s start from good things Hotel has beautiful big territory and pretty nice spa, also wonderful restaurant with sophisticated menu. But night in this 5 stars hotel costs 500€ and we didn’t expect such an awful service. First of all WiFi almost never works, connection is very unstable, a lot of websites are blocked. The shower drain was clogged with other people's hair. Pillows are completely flat, very inconvenient. Air conditioner is weak, it’s very hot to sleep at night. Breakfast is bad, no fresh vegetables or greens. The muesli is not fresh, raisins stick to the teeth.

I had wonderful time at Vidago Palace. Staff is kind and it was nice of them to put welcome message for me on the TV. All of the service is very good. Calm and elegant place. The bed is super comfortable. The food is delicious. The bathroom was big the room small but cozy, very clean with great facilities. There is also pretty garden for walking
