This hotel is in a great location for the station .
It also suited us because one of our key chosen activities in Bern was floating / swimming in the river Aare. There is a free lido resort style space that is only a 10 minute walk down hill . I understand it’s only open from June to mid September. The open air pool ‘s are totally free and you can gain access to float down the river . We spent the most of our 2 .5 days stay in the lido.
One of the reasons for picking this Hotel was it mentioned that you could use the partner Hotel called the Ambassador for their pool. Due to the local outdoor facilities available close by we didn’t need to use this. If you did apparently you ask Reception to call ahead . Useful to know if travelling in non summer months.
The hotel itself is very run down , it feels like a 3 star in terms of decor . Dated carpet ,old fashioned painted white walls . Our bedroom was so narrow you could not walk around the bed without turning our body side ways .- literally less than 50 cms . We stayed in room 306 . Other room of the same category are not the same they are larger. Our sons stayed in room on 2 nd floor and much more space .
Also useful to know that you get free use of the bus in the city of Bern included with your room rate. You need to process a code on your check in information.
