Lately, the internet is so obsessed with Moo Deng. Well, who doesn’t? Moo Deng is a cute baby girl of a pygmy hippopotamus who was just born on the 10th of July 2024. If you haven’t realised how cute a baby hippo is, you should search for Moo Deng on the internet and see its cute behaviour.

As a baby hippo, of course it shows you a lot of cute demeanors. How she interacts with her mom, lay down on the ground, walks around with her little feet, sleep, and munch her food (grasses, leaves, and fruits) with her little chubby cheeks are somehow very addictive to see.

Moo Deng also loves being close to water! She likes swimming, especially to get her body cool under the weather. Her gestures while waddling on the water will get you speechless. You might never have seen some gestures as cute as this one coming from a baby pygmy hippo.

FYI, Moo Deng is the daughter of Jona and Tony, the inhabitant of the same zoo, and she’s actually the seventh baby. Jona gave birth to Moo Deng while she herself is 25 years old and Tony is 24 years old.

The birth of Moo Deng isn’t only an internet sensation. Moo Deng actually brings a new hope, since the pygmy hippos are endangered species. Aside from being under her mother’s care (a pygmy hippo baby should stay under their mother’s care at the early months of their lives), Moo Deng is also taken care of by zookeepers.

Also, given the endangered situation, Moo Deng is under the conservation program too, in hope that the population will increase.

Many people are curious and want to see Moo Deng directly. That's why Khao Kheow Open Zoo is now frequently crowded. As Moo Deng became more and more popular, the zoo even plans to start a live streaming, so people can still admire her behaviour through the internet.

So, if you’re planning to go anytime soon to Thailand, you probably should stop at Chonburi Province to visit Khao Kheow Open Zoo and meet Moo Deng in person. Please don’t postpone your visit to the zoo. Time is ticking, and Moo Deng won’t be a baby forever!
