The Davises started their day with breakfast at Ah Meng’s Restaurant with the Orangutans. Yep, you read it correctly. The animals would usually appear from 9.30am to 10.00am, so if you want to catch a glimpse of them during YOUR feeding time, make sure to be there early! The Davises even managed to take a photo with the elusive Orangutans!

Pro tip: Do note that there is a separate admission fee for the restaurant.

If you’re planning a trip to Singapore Zoo, make sure to bring some spare change so you can buy some treats to feed the animals. It costs SGD 5 for a pack of food. This way, you and the kiddos could have fun feeding the giraffes, elephants and rhinoceros and at the same time, contribute to the zoo’s conservation projects. It’s a win-win, we must say!

Pro tip: Make sure you arrive early for these feeding sessions as the food packs are only sold in limited quantities.

You don’t have to be a fan of reptiles to enjoy discovering some of the rarest species of spiders, snakes and lizards at Reptopia. There are over 60 species of reptiles and amphibians here and it’ll be an educational trip for the kids as they learn about the habitat and food of the animals.

The River Safari is a river-themed and aquarium zoo where you could catch the Once Upon a River show, featuring the loveable capybaras, pelicans and iguanas along the water’s edge.

Pro tip: Raise your hand to volunteer for a chance to interact with the animals closely!

At the River Safari, you have a choice of two different boat rides — the Reservoir Cruise and the Amazon River Quest. The cruise will take you on the Upper Seletar Reservoir, and along the outskirts of Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari compound, giving visitors a chance to spot animals such as giraffes and Asian elephants. Meanwhile, the Amazon River Quest offers an even more exciting experience as you get to observe the animals from a close range while sitting comfortably in a log boat.

Pro tip: Wear a poncho as you might get a little wet on this ride!

While at the aquarium, Preston made a fascinating discovery! It turned out that the playful otters enjoyed following the hat back and forth from the other side of the glass!

Pro tip: Bring a hat and invite the mischievous otters to play with you in the Amazon Flooded Forest.

Once the sun comes down, head over to the Night Safari for a chance to encounter nocturnal animals such as tapir, crocodiles, sun bears and many more! The Night Safari takes you on a 40-minute open-air tram ride into the wilderness with live commentary, so you’ll get a better understanding of the wildlife.

The Night Safari is home of the Indian Gharial Crocodile, also known as the gavial, or fish-eating crocodile. There are less than 300 gavial population in the wild, and it is listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, so you’ll be lucky to spot this crocodile here!

Another highlight at the Night Safari is the 25-minute Creatures of the Night Show at the amphitheatre. These nocturnal animals are natural entertainers!

About a 20-minute drive from the other three parks, you can catch amazing bird shows at the Jurong Bird Park. Catch the magnificent hornbills and parrots performing various stunts in the shows!

Pro tip: If you’re brave enough, you can volunteer to interact with the birds like what Preston did!
