Unfortunately, you cannot reserve your seats online. To reserve seats, you must go to the counter at the station. But don’t worry, the seats are free of charge. Please read the procedure for seat reservation below. 

Seat Reservation for Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) Trains

To reserve a seat on THSR trains, just go to the THSR counter at any train station. You can start reserving your seats from 28 days before your train’s departure date.

Seat Reservation for Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) Trains

To reserve a seat on TRA trains, go to the TRA counters at the stations listed here: https://www.traveloka.com/en-id/train/taiwan.tw/general-information?view=redeem-locations. For TRA trains, you can start reserving your seats from 12 days before your train’s departure date.

Please note that seat reservation for TRA trains is only available for 5-Day Express Joint Pass holders. If you have the 5-Day Standard Joint Pass, you cannot reserve seats on TRA trains.  

5-Day Express Joint Pass holders who intend to ride the Taroko and Puyuma trains must reserve their seats. The seats on the Taroko and Puyuma Trains are numbered.

Seat Reservation for Child Passengers

Seat reservations are only available for passengers with a pass/ticket. Therefore, if you are traveling with infants or toddlers below 6 years old, you have to buy them a pass/ticket first before you can reserve seats for them.
