Hotel Blue & Cottages, Katoomba

Comfortable stay with some old world charm. Rooms were clean and bed was nice. Good continental breakfast with fresh fruit, non dairy milks and gluten free options. Would stay again.

Good location, but very old buildings, smells like old buildings. Room was nice and clean but it was too cold . Other than this it was good.

The property is quite dated although some may say “historic”. Our king room was an adequate size, however the bathroom was quite small. The room was clean, but the property doorways and entryways needed some cleaning. The included breakfast was very basic and described as such.

Free breakfast was cereals and toast. It was nice that it was very quiet and homey, despite the walls being as thin as paper. Best part was the location - very accessible to a lot of dining areas and the sites.

Was a beautiful little room. Our bathroom door fell off and i had to fix that. Room was clean, bathroom was spotless. Power point for the kettle was no where to be found, had to boil the kettle in the bathroom. The breakfast was amazing.

The hotel is very clean and has a really good ambience.

Upon arrival the receptionist wasn't very friendly (and had no shoes on, raising immediate red flags). Our room had a funky aroma with a damp patch in the little alcove. There was a stale biscuit on the floor, black mould around the hand basin and generally unclean throughout. The breakfast was extremely basic, consisting of little more than bread and coffee, and the cups were dirty. We decided to eat elsewhere. I get that the room was cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for.

The lady on the reception on key collection was very rude and hostile.

Clean, near to shops and hiking attractions, able to contact staff via text when reception was unattended.

Disappointing Stay – Poor Service and Inadequate Facilities We had one of our worst experiences at Hotel Blue and Cottages. The front desk staff was rude and dismissive, showing little concern for customer. The air conditioning unit in our room started leaking during the night, forcing us to turn it off on a hot day. With a 5-year-old in the room, we endured a sleepless night in unbearable conditions. Despite the hotel providing an after-hours contact number, our calls and texts went unanswered. The next morning, I received a casual response, “Hi, just got your message,” which lacked any sense of urgency or apology. When I raised this at checkout, the staff simply said they would “look into it” but offered no apology or resolution. If after-hours support is not genuinely available, why advertise it? This experience was unacceptable, and we will not be returning.

Terrible receptionist. The breakfast is nothing like the picture. Instant coffee, toast, cereal and yoghurt stored in a fridge with a very strong sour milk smell.

It is clean ,quiet and convenient.

Exactly what we needed - quiet and comfortable bed for the night. Bathroom newly redone. Basic facilities. Common areas could do with modernisation as guest house as a whole is reminiscent of “bygone era”.

Antiquated. Front desk not open for ckeck-in until 2 and not very friendly. Breakfast is a joke. We were there 45 minutes after opening and butter for toast all gone and no one around to replenish. Little variety. Have to make coffee with powdered substance and add water from a pot, not even warm.

We loved the location with good parking and easy access to town and National Park. The old hotel is interesting and the owners have some their best to keep it up to date.

Loved the old world feel and the position in town is spot on. Room was clean and homely. Great value inc breakfast.

Excellent location, with very good old vibe. If you are looking for something fancy, this is not your place. My wife and son loved it.
