Saintlo Ottawa Jail Hostel

It was extremely cold and loud, and I could not sleep the entire night before the appointment.

Not good. Heat of room was not working. Too cold. As well as there was radiator of heater which have sound. We asked receptionist. They said it is not working good and will be ok till midnight but it was same till morning

Its a hostile but at least somewhere to sleep

Pleasantly surprised. Very clean property. Cell (or room) is small, but was expected. Quite comfortable and had a nice quiet nights sleep.

Easy walk to bus and to Rideau mall. I travel here regularly and the staff is super sweet ♥️

If you stay for 1 night it’s cool for experiment, but not really comfortable, sockets are so far from bed, loud outside the room ( at night as well), and in my opinion stuff should give something to cover lattice in the door for more comfortable staying.

This was a truly unique experience, and anyone who loves Candian History, haunted places, or anything in between should stay here for at least one night. In all honesty, one night is all I could handle, because I'm not a heavy sleeper and I did not get much sleep due to the noise. Don't get me wrong though, it's not the hostel's fault... the jail was purposely built for sound to travel, and they can't control the volume of the guests that ignore the signs to be quiet. Just consider that a fair warning for everyone. Also realize this: the private rooms are small... incredibly small. They were jail cells in the 19th century, so they are going to be small. Also, this is a hostel, not a hotel... so don't expect luxury. Stay here for the experience, the atmosphere, or because it's cheap... don't stay here if you want a luxurious vacation. The staff are incredibly friendly, the interior is quite clean and well kept, and there's a free breakfast and a free tour every morning. Another thing to note, there is construction going on across the street right now (Nov 2024), so just be aware.

Loved my stay!! This is my new hotspot for when I come to the city for work. Affordable! Loads of convenient stores nearby!

Nice historic building better than most hostels lots of amenities; showers, kitchen, laundry and dining hall outside and inside common areas. Close to many tourist and shopping locations. Nice staff even nicer bunk-mates. Thanks.

Excellent place to stay, I enjoyed every second there. The tour gave a significant meaning to the place. Recommend to stay the night prior on taking the tour.

Great place to stay. And a bit different from the usual hostel's.

It's a really nice place to stay for a couple of nights, I was greeted very warmly and everything was explained in a clear way. It's also good that there is breakfast. Thank you for the great atmosphere and good experience.

Cool and respect

It’s my first time staying in a hostel and to be honest I was skeptical about it. Especially since it’s downtown Ottawa, but to my surprise there wasn’t any junkies inside the hostel even for its location, the space was clean and warm. Staff super polite and informative. I stayed in the all female portion and it was great. You can do your laundry, use the kitchen and even have a little living room to share and meet people. The location is great too .
