It is an antique hotel. I like the dim sum in the Chinese restaurant, the foods is nice with reasonable price. The buildings around the hotel are so antique. Make sure take as many pictures as you can.
Something you need to concern :
The subway is about 600m to 800m away from the hotel. I don't mind to walk, because I can enjoy my view around the area.
Something to prepare before travel to China:
You better download the local GPS, WeChat Pay or Alipay. (WeChat is the must).

Very nice peaceful setting. Hotel does however need a little bit of refurbishment due to its age. However very nice 2 bedroom accommodation. Would recommend.

We always like staying at the Victory on Shamian Island. The breakfast buffet is plentiful with lots of options for Westerners and Europeans. Our room was nice, but a little chilly. We couldn't get the heat to come on. Our room was also 2 floors up from the street, so at night you could hear talking and traffic. And the hallway is dimly lit, with old carpet. But that is a small price to pay for the quaintness of the island and the close location to Number 9 shopping street and the wholesale Pearl and Jade market, as well as the subway. If we were ever in Guangzhou, we would stay here again. We stayed in Victory West both times, I haven't looked at the rooms in the East wing. I am told they are newer, but smaller.

Great location and facilities in the room. They even provide special water outlet at the sink fir filtered drinking water. A lot of minor details to make your stay comfortable. Location is marvelous. 5 min walk to mrt.

There were flies/mosquitos in the room. I got bitten on my leg and arm in the first day. When I complained the hotel clerk said due to planting of trees outside they could not help flies coming in.

A very nice historic Hotel, ask for the west end, located in the older French concession of Shamian.
Staff is nice even tough english is difficult.
Room is big and well furnished but not properly isolated, you can hear the planes at night...
I recommend and will come back anyway
