Only stayed here for a night but it was exactly what we needed. Room was clean and the view was beautiful, staff was super friendly and helpful. I do wish breakfast was a bit more than what it was but it wasn’t bad, just very regular.

On the first night when we checked in we told reception the TV couldn’t connect to our mobile device as they requested us to do because the TV didn’t have any apps. He couldn’t connect it and say he would ask for someone to fix it the following day, that day never came. The hotel had a weird smell. Specially the third floor, it was a mixture of old, dust and humid. The room was not the cleanest, actually it was pretty dirty as well and it also had a funky smell. The only good thing surrounding the hotel is the San Felipe Castle everything else was super sketchy and actually dangerous. We were literally perused by man on our way to the store that was a 4 min walk from the hotel. On our way out, we were being charged for drinks we never consumed. Although the lady did end up dropping those charges from our check. We asked for room service the first night, the nachos were old and drenched in oil, over all the food and drinks were pretty mediocre. It was a really bad experience overall.

Pro: - Room: spacious, working air conditioning, in-room safe box. - The view: was nice as we could see san Felipe castle from our room. - Breakfast: was semi-buffet, you had to order eggs to be prepared. Not too many options, it was overall alright. - They offer luggage storage free of charge. - Staff: friendly and professional Cons: - Location: is in a very, very shady area of the city, specially if you are walking around. The neighborhood is not ideal for tourists. I would say better to stay in centro or bocagrande neighborhoods. We were okay as we only went out during the day. - Far from attractions: It was a 20 minute walk to most attractions, in 30 degree heat of Cartagena, it becomes quite a walk! - Room: we found a dog tick on the bed which we reported, they did not do anything about it, nor any compensation, just thanked us for informing them. Lol. Although we were not bitten, but it left us scared each night in fear of seeing more. In retrospect, they should have offered to change our room. - it was the most expensive hotel we stayed in all of Colombia, partly because Cartagena tends to be more pricy destination. Overall an okay stay, but I dont recommend it for tourists.

Beautiful boutique hotel, amazing service with very friendly staff. The view of the castle is wonderful. A little dirty carpets on the common areas, spacious and nice room. Has a big mall just a block away which is very convenient Not a place to walk at night, take Uber or taxis to the tourist safe areas after evening

The hotel was beautiful. I loved the view of the castle. I had from the room. Staff was very attentive if I needed anything. I wasn’t a food at the hotel. Other than that everything was good.

Our stay at the hotel was amazing. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the rooms and beds were clean and comfortable, and the highlight of the hotel is the breathtaking view of San Felipe Castle from the rooftop patio with the swimming pool.

We had a great vacation. The staff were very attentive. The buffet breakfast had enough variety. The fresh friut selection and freshly baked bread stood out. There is a pharmacy in the mall across the street. And finally the view of the San Felipe Castle was awesome!

This was an excellent hotel in Cartagena. The location was in great proximity to almost everything the city has to offer and the hotel itself was beautiful with amazing service. There was a fresh and delicious breakfast every morning with a plethora of choices and the rooms were beautiful with great views of the Castillo de San Felipe. The only downside is that the neighborhood is a little run down and as with much of the city, the locals like to follow you around selling their products. Overall, an excellent choice in Cartagena!

My girlfriend and I visited Cartagena from Wednesday, June 26th to Sunday, June 30th and stayed at the GHL San Lazaro Art Hotel. The transportation shuttle from the airport to the hotel all went smoothly. Our driver Natalie communicated with us via WhatsApp the day before and day of arrival and was there for us upon arrival. Check in went smoothly and when we arrived in our room the view of the Castillo de San Felipe from our window blew us away. That view and the outdoor pool were two main factors for choosing this location. The pool was a big bonus on a few days when we had downtime and was refreshing from the heat outside. We had breakfast at the hotel every morning and lunch once at the hotel. All the food is fresh and delicious. Hotel staff are friendly and always greet you with a smile. A few things to note, being able to speak at least a little Spanish will go a long way. Also, taxis are cheap - I would recommend taking a taxi from the hotel to the old town or getsemani, or wherever your travels take you. The bridge over the waterway that connects the hotel to the main cities is a little sketchy with homeless people. We had one incident in broad daylight with an attempted pick pocket. The nice thing was 10 cyclists/cars saw the incident, pulled over, and confronted the person. People will look out for you, but I would suggest avoiding walking that area, especially with how cheap taxis are. That is no fault of the hotel, just something to be aware of. Would stay again!
