Great location for visiting local sites of interest and to the Motorpoint Arena for concerts. Staff very courteous and helpful. Check-In was very quick and the room was well set out.

Beautifully presented, spacious room with comfy bed, great wifi and a restaurant attached that delivers pizza! I was on the ground floor, and I'm used to peace and quiet, so I was occasionally disturbed by people walking by and talking noisily, so might be worth asking for a room on a higher floor if this is likely to disturb you.

Website photos are very deceptive, felt like they were taken 20 years ago. Very small and dated room, soft bed and manky carpet. Good thing is the location.

The room that I booked is a mini double, so it's small and basic but sufficient but it has amazing amenities and refreshments. Location is perfect for me.

We were surprised at how small our double room was. Careless details such as having to get out of bed when nearly asleep to turn off the lights. The window frame needs a coat of paint. The roman window blind needs mending as do the sash cords. There isn't a lounge for people who may not want to sit in the bar. The tariff to stay in a small bedroom without breakfast or parking is unreasonable. The receptionists are very friendly, helpful and efficient.

Great location, pillows were terrible and low quality so slept very badly. Breakfast ok. Hotel had good amenities, nice pub and amazing location, beautiful view of church.

The Lace Market hotel is fabulously located in the historic lace market area of the city and is a good place to stay. Have stayed there multiple times. This time the room was very small and very warm.

Attractive historic building, friendly reception, comfortable bed with unusually good pillows. My room was on the ground floor near the stairs into the pub which was noisy at night until about midnight. The bed was cosy with a Welsh blanket and cushions but room decor otherwise a little stark.

The hotel looks fantastic on photos but disappoints on arrival. It feels very dated, the lift is temperamental at best, the hotel smells a little (mainly of it being old) and the rooms were really not what I expected. The tap in my room was leaking all night, the iron left dirt marks on my shirt. The main thing is that based on the photos I was expecting a well kept room but was greeted with room which felt old, not looked after and generally not what I expect from a 4 star hotel. That said, there were some positives. Reception staff was lovely and the bed was comfortable.

we spent two nights in room 1 and found it incredibly noisy. It only has single glazed windows despite being about three feet from a cobbled road. It is also directly across from reception and conversations could be heard at all times. Two nights with poor sleep didn’t make for a good experience.
