Raheen Woods Hotel

Stayed two nights. First night there was a Christmas party on I was told on my departure. With coach pick up at 2am. People from party were shouting while getting on coach which was parked almost right outside bedroom window with engine running for almost 35-40 mins. People running down corridor 2am ish , 5am next door person banging on there door to get let in. Tuesday morning, Gym opens at around 6am can hear all the weights being lifted and dropped heavy bangs vibrating right through walls and floor. Very loud Gym open till around 9.45pm. Not much sleep over the whole two nights stay.

Great hotel, clean and cozy room. Nice breakfast buffett. Comfortable beds.

It was a fabulous hotel. Front of house very friendly, restaurant/bar staff cluldnt do enough for us. Leisure centre the cleaniest i have ever been in.

The property allowed us to check in early without charge. Staff were super friendly. The bed was comfy. The rooms are very dark and a little dated but they’re clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. Well worth the price we paid

Very clean and well-maintained hotel. All the staff were lovey and extremely helpful. The food was excellent. I cannot fault Raheen Woods Hotel in any way. Athenry is a lovely historic town for a stroll around and a trip to the castle is worth it.

We had an amazing weekend with our 4-year old. I've stayed in hotels numerous times (for work and leisure) and Raheen Woods is definitely the cleanest and friendliest I've been to in the island of Ireland. All staff incredibly helpful and attentive. The McHale's is the best hotel pub/restaurant I've been to. Breakfast was also excellent. I loved the beautiful décor of the whole hotel and it completely corresponded to the superb experience it offered us. Congratulations! We'll certainly return.

The position is about 30 minutes drive from Galway. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a buffet and the quality of food depends on the time you get there. A little dried up! Angus who greeted us for breakfast was very helpful and remembered our requirements. The bar/bistro looked nice, food was good, however, was let down by the wait staff. It says to wait to be seated, we waited patiently. However it would have made sense to be able to enter and get a drink whilst we had a lengthy wait. Food didn’t take too long, but the wait for our drinks at the table was lengthy and we had to ask for them a 2nd time. There was also a very long wait to have our plates cleared. Nice pool area , we used the sauna and jacuzzi.

We were new to this hotel. Warm welcome. Comfortable room larger than we expected with a balcony. Spotlessly clean and the furnishings looked of decent quality. One day housekeeping missed refreshing the tea,coffee tray but reception very quickly put this right. Everything else very smooth.

A well maintained and clean property but showing a little bit dated in the bathroom area The staff are extremely pleasant. The main thing is, I would be very happy to return for another visit and would recommend this hotel.

On the first night we had an adjoining room on the 2nd floor. Our daughter was woken by the family next door talking and shouting. There is no soundproofing, we could clearly hear the TV and snoring in the non adjoining room. My husband went to reception and they agreed to move us to a non adjoining room the following day which they did. We had to check out at 11:30 and wait for the room to be ready which is not something i have experienced previously when changing rooms. The local area has limited food options especially for an evening snack. The food in the hotel was nice however the menus displayed in the lobby were not the menus being used in the restaurant for example one evening we wanted a small snack, my husband went to reception to ask about room service. He was advised we could choose from the bar menu displayed, call reception and they would sort it for us. We decided to go to the bar and eat instead, when we arrived to the bar we were told their was no bar menu and it was the al la carte menu. My husband went back to the reception to clarify and was advised neither menu was correct and there was a separate menu because it was sunday. Very frustrating when trying to organise two hungry kids. On the first morning we attended breakfast at 8:40am, breakfast finishes at 10:30am. We finished eating around 9:15 and my husband went to get a pastry but there was none left. He asked the waiter who retunred and said they would not be refilled, people we still arriving.

The property is well located. Can walk into the village for dinner. However the hotel is noisy. Noise easily transmits from room to room. Also can easily hear the music from downstairs. Also surprised for.a 4 star hotel no complementary bottled water. Breakfast was good, dinner was ok but many options had run out. But they were busy. Overall average.

Friendly and helpful front desk staff

Overpriced for the room we got. Good location. Close to great ancient ruins. Staff were fairly good. Any room bordering the elevator gets regular noise until late. Walls thin. We felt we got the last room available that was not the best.

Buffet breakfast is good, had dinner twice at the restaurant and the best food we had so far while travelling.

Only stayed overnight, but no complaints. Area is industrial/business but we were using the hotel to access Galway city. Did fine.

The staff was amazing and facilities overall were very nice. However, the room had no AC, no fan, and the window barely opened, so it was unbearably hot and hard to sleep at night. Of course, most of the year in Ireland, this wouldn’t be an issue, but going in July made this aspect difficult. The bed also wasn’t very comfortable, but hotel room was clean and well-stocked!

Short walk to town from this beautiful little area. The food at the hotel was good and we got a great night sleep after some very long days!
