Just got back from a trip overseas, including 2 nights at this onsen hotel. We booked a non-smoking ocean view room, with kaiseki breakfast and dinner. We booked a room that could have up to 6 people. We were unprepared for how luxurious this room was! We had a huge tatami room looking over the ocean, very nicely appointed, and a separate room with a couch and massage chair, overlooking the ocean as well. Our bedroom had 2 double sized beds, and there was an extra tatami room that we never used because we were always enjoying the seaside room. The downstairs has a lovely covered porch where barbeque dinners are held, and the resort gives daily yukata changes with belts. They were so comfortable and nice! And the onsen was amazing, there are two side (mens, womens), and they both overlook the sea. We sat and watched a spectacular sunset during our stay. The kaiseki meals were fabulous!!! I kept worrying that we were going to have a humongous bill because there were 9-11 courses, and during the dinner we had a private dining room. I suppose this might have been part of the price of our room. The breakfasts were no different--excellent! I have to say that I am often wary/suspicious of the kinds of photos that you might see online that exaggerate aspects of a place. I was prepared to have a nice stay, but had no idea that it would be above and beyond. The Japanese friends with us were just as impressed as we were. Service was exceptional in every way!

Didn't have expectation about this old place before I visited. Well... just everything was perfect for me to take a rest away from annoying and crowded Osaka. No need to explain by writing long review. Definitely worth it to stay. They do the shuttle bus service when arrive at Kada station (Just call to the hotel at the info center) and 9:30 and 10:10 back to the station after check-out.

Make sure to use the pay phone at the train station to call the shuttle to pick you up if you don’t have a local phone. So other than that stress, this is a beautiful, peaceful place with a wonderful separated onsen and amazing authentic Japanese food.

We were surprised with the newly renovated hotel. The front desk staff was very friendly. When I told him we could not catch the next morning train back to Shin-Osaka with their regular shuttle service, he offered to help us to book taxi and printed out train schedule with platform on/off outlined. View from our corner room 456 was stunning. We booked fish dinner which was good, breakfast was a bit boring Japanese rice but they provide enough coffee for coffee addict ;-)

Did not tell us it was a smoking room before paying: cheap move by Hotels.com. If we had known, we wouldn’t have booked it. Also cannot cancel after booking. In the end, we had to pay extra to upgrade to top floor. Other than that, the hotel is great, with a stunning view. There are a few minor criticisms though 1) a long walk to the elevator, and you have to climb stairs before and after accessing it: sort of defeats the purpose of an elevator. Inconvenient for heavy luggage travelers. 2) free WiFi in the lobby only 3) TV a bit small and is placed at an awkward angle(in the corner). 4) the dude’s onsen is great, but she said the chick’s onsen is super small. 5) the train between wakayama and Wakayama-Shi is infrequent, even though it’s a short ride. We still need to transfer to nankai train to get to Kado, before getting a free ride to the hotel : so it isn’t all that convenient.

Nice ocean view of the outdoor onsen area. The location is out of walking distance from the train station, it is suggested to seek for help from the train station stuff to contact the hotel. They are willing to offer shuttle bus to get you there. Overall, it is a good choice for vacation.

I have arranged with the hotel for pick up at Kada Station. I had even reminded the hotel to pick me up on my arrival day. However no one turn up at the Kada Station and I waited for 30 minutes suffering from the cold wind. I have to call the hotel for immediate pick up and no apology from the hotel management even after I have check in. Very disappointed.

We three a family visted the Kada area near Osaka. Kada is probably the quiet portion of the Wakayama region where many places of nature are worthwhile. The hotel is a nice 1-2 days stop over before we hit other POI in the region. Hotel service, facility and food are all very nice for the price we were paying. I'd definitely recommend to my friends if they want to visit the Wakayama region.

Overall this is a good spa to get to if you're looking to experience a Japanese style suite. I recommend getting one of the ocean view rooms and even though there are no non-smoking rooms in the whole hotel, customer should know that they do deodorize the rooms before you arrive. Ocean view rooms means that you'll get to wake up to a stunning 180 view of the ocean and access to a gorgeous sunset. Customers will get to enjoy a Japanese public bath and a minimum of 2 nights stay is recommended to get the full experience as they split the public bath into a guy and girl side which switches on a daily basis. This spa is somewhat dated and could use a good overall upgrade. Wifi is only found in the lobby and internet does not reach the individual rooms. Ordering meals is highly recommended ahead of time or else customers will need to drive out to Wakayama city to get food (10 plus min drive away). If you're looking to get the full Japanese Ryokan experience, this is a great place to disconnect, relax and refresh yourself and we all need that from time to time.
